Headers/Exhaust System
What do you guys recomend on getting street legal for Cali for headers...performance/price...also cat back systems should I get brand names one or just custom knock offs ones. Does it matter on the brand or just the size of the piping. I want to increase airflow in and out. Thinking of AEM short ram or K&N FIPK.

Yo,
I'm in Cali too, and it's a biatch to find good stuff that we can legally run out here... so far I KNOW that the only header that is legal out here is from DC, so don't bother with anything else there. Also, as far as exhausts go, from what I can tell from my research, the only two that are legal are the DC TCS and the Greddy EVO...each well in the high cost range, which sucks.
I went with the AEM CAI and love it. I would suggest going with the CAI over the short ram. if you're going to spend the money, you midaswell spend a little more and get something that will actually do some good. And its not like it really rains out here much, and you certainly wouldn't/shouldnt be going through any foot deep puddles anyway, regardless. um......As far as the cat, i have no idea, I've been looking to get a hi flow cat but i'm not sure which if any are legal out here.
Hope that helped at all. late

it may not, but it IS a performance part and it IS the only header street legal in this state..it may not do much, but it's better than stock.[hr]

In California you can't change or move your stock cat. By move I mean if you were to cut off the stock cat from the downpipe and weld it to an aftermarket header. I say who cares about legal. When you need to get your car smogged, just put your stock manifold back on or bring an extra $50 bucks and a 12 pack for the smog ref. My kamikaze header w/ no cat is on its way.
