Pass By Valve Question
Hello everyone,
Just would like some opinion's on anyone thinks i should do in my situation. Purchased a AEM CAI, and the valve, installed CAI without valve because it hasn't got here yet, I have a 2002 EX Manuel.
Here is my question I live in Miami, Florida and it doesnt really rain THAT much like everyone thinks, and if doesn't flood much in my area/city (carol City), and if it is flooded i kinda avoid puddles etc.., do you think I would be fine just avoiding floods, and leaving valve off?, I would sell valve when it gets here etc.., any sugestions would be appreciated, and does valve hurt performance in anyway?
Thank You in Advance

Hey, I used to live in Broward and the water there never got to the level where a bypass valve would be needed (except that one time it flooded in the early 90's). But that was so deep that you couldn't drive your car. However, since Florida is so flat and drainage is pretty good, I wouldn't think you'd need it. But, if you got it, you might as well install it.

I had a Bypass Valve and took it off. The only reason you need the bypass valve is if your cone is totally submerged in water, If your driving in flood conditions were the water is up to your bumper, i would say you are a little crazy. Im not totaly sure that the bypass helps performance. I took it off and i get a better quallity sound. and i think it give me a little extra at the 4K range with a wie open throttle. this maybe be mental, but i really think it is true. I wish i had never bought the bypass, casue now i have a cylicone hose connection wehre the bypass used to be. IMO sell it, and don't put it on
you should be okay without it. Mine has gone into action a few times, only in really heavy rain when the filter gets reeeeaaaally wet, you can hear it when it opens up. But I am not convinced they are necessary

bypass valve is dumb.. not worth the money... people even have problems with them... i remember somebody using a cai with the bypass valve and the spring from the bypass valve coming off and getting sucked into the throttle body... if you're paranoid about hyrolockin' in the rain... just take the cold air extension off and drive it as if it were a short ram... simple pimple control..

Having driven on some KY interstates where it is raining so hard the water is standing 4 inches deep on the road and looking like white water rivers, with the big trucks totally covering the car when they pass, like Niagra Falls, I don't believe I'd want to drive with a CAI with or without a valve.
