HKS Hi- Power Muffler

Okay guys I just bought the muffler from Rob at Tornactive and I cant wait till it gets here!! But I have a couple of questions!! Should I just wait and save money to spend the money on 2.25 custom piping or just go ahaed and install it? Well, I want a loud yet deep exhaust and should I just do custom piping or should I take the resonator out of my exhaust and put the muffler on? If so, where and how do I take the resonator off my exhaust? And I talked to the guy on the phone taht does custom piping and he said something about gutting my catalyic converter or something??? Well, Thanks and cant wait for the HKS And what do you guys think of it!!??!!

Just put it on w/out customizing first. It's as easy as two bolts. See how you like it. As far as custom pipes... even though the muff-dog is already bolted on... the guys at the shop can take it off in a snap and then customize.

My advice... go ahead and throw it on.. and when you've got the cash... get your piping. Resonator... that needs to be done by a muffler shop. The section w/ the resonator needs to be replaced w/ a new straight pipe.

I've heard it sounds AWESOME with just the bolt on. I heard it hads low end torque too, like HKS said that our stock piping was good enough and all that was needed was a good quality muffler (so I've heard). This is my next investment so I'm interested in seeing what you do. How much did Rob hook you up for? The only thing I'm scared about is if like one night somebody just crawls under my car and unbolts my muff and walks away with it, any way to prevent this??

I've seen places that make exhaust locks, they are pretty much just a metal cable that you attach to the exhaust, then to your car. Also, to prevent that, just lower your car a good 2", then noone will be able to get under there

Well, remember that I just bought the muffler and not the rear section. Should I spend the extra money and get a rear section?

Oh yeah forgot to tell you guys that I have an OBX rear section w/ 2.25 piping. Should I cut the obx muffler and replace it with the HKS muffler and still use the rear section piping from OBX? Thanks

Oh yeah, I forgot to ask... HKS HIPER is Carb Exempt right? Does it come with a certificate so I can prove it when I get pulled over? And do they give you a silencer?

IMO: It doesn't really matter which one you get. The rear section points outwards though which is pretty cool. I dont know how you want to setup your muffler, but if you just get that, you'll endup chopping off your OBX and welding it....

I have it. I had the Hiper with 2.5" straight piping and it was slow. I put a 12" glass pack res and it performed better near top end. I never had the stock res with it. It does not come with a sticker and a silencer. The silencer is $35 bucks at OptAuto and it is now sitting underneath my bed on the floor.

Do you feel you need the silencer? Is it loud at highway speeds when cruising?

if you want deep and loud you shouldent have gotten the HKS....the rear section is quiet with the factory resonator in place, if you get custom piping the car will be too loud....loud as in " that thing belongs in the race track" loud...not deep at all open pipe loud because of the internal design of the canister and the packing material used by HKS.... now deep and loud would be the Mozart rear section...trust me that thing is DEEP sounding..
