Sparco Pedals

Has anyone bought Sparco Grip pedals for their Civic? How were they to install as opposed to a pedal cover? I know the
Sparco pedals have to be drilled in place, this isn't normally a big deal, right? thanks!

I've got Momos, but it's the same. You drill 2 holes in the pedal and run screws through them, they bolt in the back. Easy install. 45 minutes max. Just make sure you check that you are not drilling through the pedal stalk when you do it. and when you drill the gas pedal, drill in the 2nd groove from the left (closest to the brake). Otherwise, you'll go through the metal stalk for it.

Hey boilermaker...

I've got momo's, but I didn't have to drill. Are there different kinds?

You don't have to drill with ALL pedals. Some bolt around the stock pedal...you just have to take off the peice of rubber that comes with the car, and bolt around the remaining steel.

pedals are a necessary upgrade...the stock ones are made for midgets!

honestly, who has feet that small?!?!

Yes there are different kinds.... the "Tuner" pedals don't need to be drilled but are huge and expensive. I have "Superturismo" pedals which have to be drilled into the pedal.

Boilermaker - thanks for the reply. With the Sparco Grip Pedals it seems
like I will have to drill right through the pedal stalk, since the drill holes are in the center of the pedal. I noticed in your message
you said to avoid doing this. Will this affect the strength of the stalk? Are you happy with the momo pedals? thanks!!

I have the Sparco Stripe pedals. If I remember correctly there were five screw points (one at each corner and one in the center). The clutch and brake were a cake walk. I think I needed two longer screws for the gas pedal and didn't end up using the center screw point. It's probably a good idea to have a new or freshly sharpened drill bit too.

Here's how it works.... you can drill anywhere on the pedal plate you want. It doesn't have to be dead center. You shouldn't drill through the stalk for a few reasons...
1. It'll take for ever
2. you don't want to break the pedal plate lose by cracking the weld
3. The screws prolly won't make it through
4. You can drill through the side of it and risk the pedal breaking off if you hit it to hard (brakes especially)
you don't want to test the strength of it.

Best way to fit it up is to use masking or 2 sided tape and tape the pedals to the plate. When you have them where you want them, check and make sure they won't go through the stalk, mark the holes with a scribe, whiteout pen or something you can see on black, REMOVE THE PEDAL (you don't want to scratch it if the drill slips), and drill a small pilot hole. If you like the placement and haven't drilled into anything you shouldn't have, then drill the hole to size and bolt on the pedal. You don't have to center the pedal on the plate. Half the point of aluminum pedals is to put them where you feel comfortable. I mounted the gas closer to the brake and the brake closer to the gas by not centering the aluminum ones on the plate.

Thanks for the info! Glad I asked before I did it, because I probably would have messed it up. Thanks again!
