What, in your opinion, would be the best alarm / remote starter system for a 7thgen civic lx?

I have "Python" remote start and alarm. its pretty nice . i like it. and couple of my other homies have it too.

yeah just have the car in neutral, my friend has it on his prelude and hit the button on accident while the car was in 1st gear, the car went off into a tree on its own

I have a Python with remote start and I drivestick..just spend the extra $50 on a neutral sensor and you'll have no worries..if the cars in gear it just won't try to start
