removal of exhaust resonator???

Has anyone removed their stock exhaust resonator with stock piping and an axleback?
Do removing it make my exhaust louder?
Just wondering because I have a custom axleback and its kind of quiet. Kind of disapointed in sound level.

i'm running without a resonator but custom pipes and i'm pretty sure it will be louder without the resonator, even though you're using stock pipes

take the car to a muffler shop and they will cut the resonator off.then they will weld a straight pipe in place of the resonator.

WTFBjTCH - I dont know what your trying to say but not all catback exhaust systems offer a sound level or quality that I want. Also I HAVE an aftermarket muffler and I am not happy with the sound level so I was wondering if taking the resonator out will amplify my exhaust tone. If your trying to say that an aftermarket muffler will increase my sound/quality level, then obviously you didnt read my post.

I could be talking out of my a$$, but removing your resonator and using stock pipes would increase the tone but I think it would have a higher pitch as compared to custom pipes with a larger diameter will give you a lower pitch.

umm i have an after market exahust with custom piping (cat-back). . .the muffler shop decided not to add the exahust resonator cuz it would take more work and it just muffles the sound. . . Soo i said it was all right for them to take it out. The sound is louder with the cat-back and exahust. If you decide to take it out. . might as well go for the custom piping as well. . . .HOWEVER, the louder it is, the higher your chances of getting pulled over by a cop for having it TOO loud.

Yes, take off the damned resonator and it will get louder. If you call that quality then go for it.

Just take the stock exaust off and leave the cat or take the cat off too.. (that might be tooooo loud) It sounds decent and i believe it gives you a little hp...

If you want to be the most annoying person on your block then do this. Trust me, between my brothers 7th gen, my friends 7th gen, and my 7th gen, I've had experiance with alot of different exhaust setups. The absolute best set up (sound and power wise)is the stock exhaust w/ with an AEM or Injen CAI.

I agree. A good intake makes the best sound and not too noisy. Sounds like old fashioned sports cars. And you only get it when you mash down on the gas.
