This is about Honda spoilers...

Hello:

I just have this question. What is the difference between a genuine Honda spoiler from an OEM Style? I know that the OEM Style is less expensive then the other but what is the difference in the quality.

Please Help me on this one...

Be like trying to compare a Kia and a Honda. You get what you pay for.

Original means Honda actually made it...

OEM style means some other company made it and it "supposedly" looks exactly like the Honda one...

The material/quality and other differences depend on what company actually made the spoiler...

If you have the money and want to pay for the name go with the Honda other wise go with OEM...

Theres also the other options, spoilers made by other companies that don't look like the Honda original

Uh, i have a replica and as for as a spoiler goes, idont think that something is gonna go wrong with it, and even if it did (like kia) i can send it back no problem. hello! its just a spoiler. my 150$ spoiler looks feels and works just like the 300$ one.

I bought the sknock off from spoilers-4-less and painted it myself, all I can say is that it was a pan in the *** to paint, now that I have it on it looks great, although from what I have noticed it is slightly shorter than the real OEM spoiler, like 1/4 of an inch or so. Overall I cnanot ocmplain I got the spoiler in for 200 with paint,a nd it looks just as good as OEM. and has not given me any trouble or warped or anythign, IMO it just doesnt have "CIVIC" engraved on the bottom.

to haters of aftermarket oem style

I bought mine from spoilerdepot.com and it was pretty cheap. As far as quality, it hasn't given me any troubles at all. In fact the only difference that i can see is that it doesn't say civic underneath.

So if you don't already have one from the dealer, or they wouldn't throw one in for free, get one from that web site, because I saved about 400 bones in the process, and installation is fairly simple.

G'day

Are they made from the same material???.......
When I recieved my OEM one I was supprised by the weight of it. It is pretty dam'd light.
And it feels pretty Dam'd strong too.......
just curious,.......cause I have a girl-friend who has an older accord w/ a wing made out of some wierd
material......it's flaking paint and shi et.......looks like crap....

I'd get the real thing, personally. Paint matches really well, and it comes with new trunk springs to counter the additional weight on the trunk lid (not sure if aftermarket ones do or not) plus it's really easy to install, even if you aren't that good with measuring (templates can really help out! Just hope you are good with a drill ) My .02

Not true. I bought my spoiler and my wife's spoiler from spoilerdepot.com. The paint on both matches perfectly and you would never know the difference from oe. Well, if you bent down and looked underneath the spoiler you wouldn't see the engraved 'civic' or 'accord' but that's about it.

The spoilers are as light as a feather. No new springs needed.

Like I said, if you bought an oe, you paid over $150 for something that no one will ever notice.

Had mine for 8 months and am still tickled to death about the chunk of money I saved.

the OEM spoilers are much thicker fiberglass molded..the OEM Style one's are usually eurothane and weight about 5lbs isntead of 22...save weight get the style..it's still might strong..

OEM.......HONDA........ fiberglass???? are you nuts? when is the last time you saw honda make a fiberglass product? the 80s? if that.... the spoilers are made using a Blow mold. ABS plastic usually. more expensive and more durable. Also the OEM ones are painted at Hondas factory, and carry the same paint warranty as your cars paint, as well as garenteed match.

That is true. However, I seriously doubt that very many people ever have paint issues. Second, I have two replica spoilers and the paint matches perfectly and was also garenteed to match.

The 150-200 more for an oe can't be justified unless you strictly want it because you have to have the brand - which I can understand.

I had a knock-off FX Design OEM spoiler on my car when I first got it, what a pain in the a$$!

First off, it would vibrate at 120km/h and shake. Secondly, the paint didn't match at all, it looked silver but at an angle it was white. Thirdly, the third light came on with the spoiler light(they spliced into the brake wire to run the spoiler light). And, lastly, the trunk did not stay open with the knock-off spoiler. I had it slam on my fingers and it almost clipped my head. Now, I went back to the dealer and paid the difference for the Honda spoiler. What a difference I must say, night and day. I would recommend the honda made spoiler over any knock-off!

Now, supposingly, the Acura dealer here used to install knock-offs instead of the real deal but too many people complained about the spoilers. The Honda dealer is finding the same thing regarding the knock-off spoiler.

Well, I would DEFINITELY NOT pay 500 for an OEM Spoiler, and I would'nt feel comfortable with the Replica's either, Soooooooooo, I just bought a used one in the Aftermarket section for 180. Woohoo. Genuine OEM Honda and me and a buddy of mine installed it ourselves.
