Tranny cooler good for our cars??
I'm reading alot about accords, because thats my next purchase goal, and alot of the owners use tranny coolers....they are inexpensive (under 60bucks) and i hear they really help increase the life of trannys. I'm wondering if they are good for our cars, or if the accord owners use them mainly because their trannys are crappy....what do ya'll think?

Actually a tranny cooler is useful for anytime you are putting out good amounts of power, i.e. if you get you auto civic to put out 170 WHP or more you would need a tranny cooler. they can help in any sittuation though. It may make yuor tranny last longer, and it will shift smoother. Most guys use them on their automatic Trans Ams and Corvettes.

yeah i kinda wanted the smoother shift and the peace of mind thats its not overheating. I never brake torque or neutral drop, i sorta drive like a granny mostly and then sometimes i'll hit high rpm, i just want my stuff in good shape, so i thought about the tranny cooler. I wish i knew more about mechanics so i could install it myself...
If I had an auto adding a cooler would be one of my first mods. Mustang, Tbird, Crown Vic owners all add coolers and in some cases an additional cooler...and Ford auto transmissions are very strong to begin with. From what I heard Honda's auto trannys aren't up to par. Go for it...it's excellent insurance for your transmission.
edit: Just remember, if you add a cooler you'll need to add more ATF. Make sure you add the amount the cooler's capacity is.

Well its a good idea and all, but think about it. You go and slap a cooler on your tranny and say it DOES fail while under the warranty, who do you think Honda is going to blame. Frankly, I got the extended warranty for a reason. If the trans fails, Honda is replacing it and Im selling the car. Im getting rid of the car anyway before the warranty is up. Plus, these civics have grade logic transmissions so they're never going to be REALLY smooth. It's always going to be a little rough. But that's been a complaint since they debuted. Oh well. If you really think it will help you, go for it, but be ready to put up a fight with Honda if something goes wrong.
