Clearing Sedan Headlights Failure

I got my lens so scratched up and there are so much scratches and smuge marks of silicon all over the lens
this sucks big time
Its just so d*mn hard to do all the glue everywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I put them in the oven and everything and the seal was just PACKED it took so much strength just to open it up and now my lens are all scratched and smuge marks of silicon all over makes me want to some more

This is my failed attempt to clear my headlights
A friend helped me and he did his coupe ones too and he said mine was WAYYYYY harder
I got nothing on the chrome or the inner lens its just the outside is f**ked up

anyways anybody else have a failed attempt?

You should have used a hairdryer and a screwdriver; so easy to do.

I thought coupes were harder to clear because coupes come with the black glue while the sedans are grey.

aw man, that blows.

So whatcha gonna do? Buy projectors?

I was too chicken to try and clear my sedan headlights, plus I wanted to have the option to return the car back to bone stock. So I bought some OEM cleared ones from the marketplace.

Well, dont feel bad! It took me 3 trys before I got mine right and I ended up having to paint my inside housing cause I screwed it up. The sedans are much harder then the coupes. I have done like 3 sedans and 4 coupes and the coupe are much easier cause the clips.

ive cleared like 12-13 cars and the sedans are the hardest i have a sedan myself and the first time i couldnt get them apart so the next day i said screw this im gonna try and try till i pass out so what i did was i went and got some of this blue tape my dad uses when he installs like dishwashers and stuff also they use it on cars to prevent cratches (just go to a local dealership after they get in new shipment and you can get tons of it for free what it does is it stick but leaves no sticky stuff on the plastic and also prevents scratches. anyways you stcik that on there first and just pull and pull as hard as you can and then once you put it back together the easiest thing to do is put bead of silicone (make shure it says on the side that its good for up to 200 degrees or so) put the bead in the groove and the carefullly put back together dont squeezre to much tho. once this bead dries like 2 hours put another bead along whole outside edge especially laerge bead on top and then hat i did after that was hook up a vacuum on the hole where the bulb is (just one hole keep others closed) and turn on vaccum and move your hand around egde or use an insense stick and see where smoke is being sucked in and at that point with vaccum still one put more silicone until there noo leaks. i did all this to mine and others and havent had one drop of moisture yet! but just make shure if you ever change out bulbs take them into the aircondidtions huse first before you break the seal on the headlights this will keep moisture from sneaking in and make them totally moisture free. might take a while to do but youi'll be glad in the longrun.

I got some smudges and scratches on mine too. No big deal. You can't notice them unless you get right up close and inspect. It seems almost impossible to not get something on there with all that black crap going all over the place. Someone should be releasing clear headlights for our cars soon anyway (APC I think) so, you can just buy those or different headlights. Or just go to Honda and buy an OEM headlight, try again, or leave it the way it is. NO big deal, everything's repairable.

I wonder if there are any compounds (like that polishing compound for scratches on paint)that could be used to polish away minor scratches on the clear plastic cover, since I have a few little ones on mine. I think I will give it a try.

I had a hard time as well, I needed my brother to help me get the casing off. We did his car first which was about 7 months old. And his was pretty hard. Then we did my car which was more than a year old and it was h*ll. But we took our time and was able to get them off without any problems. Once we had them off, we took a screw driver and started twisting away the old silicone on the casing and scrapping off the silicone on the clear plastic. We get fresh silicone in and it was a perfect. No fogging up. It just takes patience. But we did spend on average 8 hours on both cars. But you want to do the job right the first time. i used a razor blade on my coupe hl assembly, don't know if that will help you now, but i heated then cut into the black sealant, then pried apart with a small screwdriver. guess you could always spray them though.
