Magnaflow Cat vs Brand-name Rear Sections
OK, here's a quite played out topic that no one ever got a conclusion on.
What gives a better gain: Magnaflow Cat (no offence, but it's a small name) vs rear sections such as HKS, APex-i, etc?
I'm tempted to go with the Magnaflow, esp. there's the whole GB and such, but if it requires welding and sh!at to get it installed properly, I'd almost be tempted to get the HKS with custom piping.......
Pls comment, esp. Magnaflow owners and EX-Magnaflow owners (if any). Thx

id say go with either hks or aplex muffler and get custom piping. magnaflow's piping is just NOT good . but sounds pretty good though.if you planning or if your car is lowered. magnaflow is not the one.. piping sits way too low.
but GB magnaflow is only 300 shipped to your door.

I love my magnaflow. The first few days after I lowered my car, I was scraping a lot. Then, I learned how to drive a lowered car, and I scraped about half as much. A few days later, I got back under the car, and turned the u-bolt clamps so the threaded end of the bolt is not turned sideways, but upwards so it is almost touching the underbody. I also rotated the pipe between the cat and the resonator a little. You can't use a rachet or breaker bar on one of the bolts on each clamp, so you have to use an open ended wrench and a lot of elbow grease to tighten it. The only thing that was scraping was the u-bolt clamps. there were no scrathes anywhere else. Since that day, I haven't scraped once! Magnaflow is an unbeleivable deal and it's not stupidly load like other exhausts. And yes, I can tell a slight perfomance increase, but it may just be in my head. Haha, sorry, not really referring to "small", more like "less-known" for import performance (compared to HKS, Apex-i, etc.)...
What I really want to find out is which would give me the best hp without costing me too much. The Magnaflow and rear sections seem to fall into my budget range.

I'd get one, but I'm stripped for cash right now, after my Koni upgrade. Maybe I'll wait for the next GB coz Canadian Catalytic is right close to TO here in Canada...
