Questions on intakes
Hi everyone, I am new here and I have a 2k1 silver EX
2d A/T.
I plan to get an intake for my car and I have a couple
questions:
1) Is cold air intake for M/T only? For A/T, the only intake
I can get is a short ram?
2) Which intake is the best for my car? AEM? Injen? DC
sports? and how much are they?
3) How much horsepower can I gain after it is installed.
Thank you so much!
MC

Welcome Aboard. Please use the search option next time (check below.. see my link called "Search"?)
----------------
1) Is cold air intake for M/T only? For A/T, the only intake

No, cold air is not only for MT. Currently AEM carriers SRI(short ram intakes) for MT & AT, and CAI(cold air intake) only for MT because they have proved that CAI does not give any more power than SRI in AT civics. However, Injen makes SRI and CAI for both MT and AT.
2) Which intake is the best for my car? AEM? Injen? DC
sports? and how much are they?
This is really up to you... AEM definetely looks better than Injen and DC. However, Injen and AEM perform roughly the same, it is up to you. I'm going Injen CAI (i have an auto) and Injen is usually cheaper than AEM. Buy the intake from www.tornactive.com or www.ptuning.com (check ad on top of page). Injen CAI for AT costs about $180-200 shipped online. Injen SRI goes for about $150-170 shipped. AEM.. They cost a bit more, check the sites.
3) How much horsepower can I gain after it is installed.
Don't even think that you're going to get "10-20hp" lol. Well, in general an SRI should give you some 2-3hp (??) and CAI 4-5hp (correct me if i'm not right).
In my opinion... if you want just the performance and sound go with Injen CAI. If you want performance, sound, and good looks go for AEM. ah..it's 2:30am, i need sleep. I hope this helps.

save the money and buy something else. it wont do anything but add noise. no horsepower. well, it might add like 0.01 hp, but thats all. that isnt worth $500 (can). you can get the equivalent to 0.01 hp by taking out your back seats and/or spare tire....
haha, my friend did the same thing for his prelude... bought a generic intake and put like an aem filter on it.... he even put an aem decal on the intake. it actually looks pretty good
