Rep Power: 0 New ACT Clutch...and the results...
Got the HC5-XTSS clutch from ACT. Here is a link to their website. The XT is the "xtreme" preasure plate, and the SS is the performance organic street disc. I got this product for a number of reasons. I wanted the XT in case I wanted/needed more disc (R6 6 pad race disc) later on with the possible addition of Nitrous and/or turbo. Got the SS now, because anything more would be over kill and cost more. The torque capacity for this set up is rated at 270. I figured that would be plenty if I run a 40 shot and 4 - 5 lbs of boost sometime in the future. The clutch kit cost me $376. Installation was $300 which included turning the flywheel.
First let me say I'm glad I did this now because a couple of my springs on the stock disc were just about ready to pop right out and cause major gear box damage. My old disc surface was in fairly good shape (I was surprised) and had some life left to it, but the springs sound like a baby rattle. The stock preasure plate was pretty burnt. It had been abused.
New clutch = about 100% more pedal effort. Takes some getting used to. At first the car seemed really out of balance. You really have to stand on that clutch pedal. I'm getting more used to it now. Let me tell you this baby grabs like there is no tomorrow. Hooks up much quicker than stock. Much quicker engagement, faster shifts. While drag racing, I am seriously chirpping in 3rd. Not just little girly chirps either like once before, but real car bouncing chirps. I am so stoked about this clutch. I give it a 9 from 1 to 10. Definitely recommend if you drag race at all. Get one before your springs pop out like the little toys that they are. I have no doubt that this clutch will easily handle a 70 shot and lots of drag racing. For those waiting on a turbo, you will need a new clutch too eventually and I certainly recommend this set up.
Sorry, can't really take a picture of it. If you have any questions let me know.

Rep Power: 0 When you upgrade your clutch why does there have to be extra effort. Can't you just have some sort of piggyback hydraulic cylinder to boost pressure or something?
Don't we have a hydraulic clutch?

To answer your other question. I don't know. People have their preferences. It just seems like a lot of CMs fail early around here.

Rep Power: 0 I wonder what you would run in south florida?? do you know of any conversion factor (probably not likely) that will account for the elevation/lower your e.t. by adjusting to sea level (where i live)?? I haven't been able to drag race week after week due to the rain almost every day here, but depending on what your car runs i think i could at least give you a little competition??? (or make it amusing for you at least lol). If i really concentrate and not bullsh*t i can get consistent high .5's for r/t; plus i would enjoy comparing shifting style to learn/get advice??? i dunno, but i'd love to feel the difference of a new clutch and i think it kicks *** you chirp in third but have you noticed your 60' getting higher because of chirping in third or getting lower because overall your shifts are faster?

Rep Power: 0 I've been told drag radials have a negative effect on our stock axles and that an aftermarket axle would have to be in order to support the drag's. i know moroso makes an axle for import applications and was wondering if you've heard anything about this?? i was told specifically what the negative effect was, but i can't remember what the hell it was. i hope you know what i'm talking about or i just rambled...

Rep Power: 0 If someone would make a limited slip for our cars, it would help massive. Basically, a drag radial will impart more force to the drive. More stress? I haven't heard anything bad about it yet. We'll see some day.
