Performance exhaust will shorten the life of your engine?
Performance exhaust will shorten the life of your engine?
I hadn't heard even mention of anything like this before, but my guy at Meineke said something to the effect that your engine will burn out faster if there's a aftermarket exhaust on it. Is there any truth to this at all? I'm kinda doubting what he said because he suddenly got real angry and went into this tirade about why he doesn't like loud exhaust systems after I asked him about adding an extension to an EX catback so it would fit an LX (Which in itself is probably a foolish move but it still shouldn't actually hurt my car, right?)

P.S. Sorry for all the stupid exhaust posts but I want to be sure I don't do anything incredibly stupid to ***** up my car.

haha thats pretty funny, sounds like something my dad would say to keep me from modding my car!
Edit: Dont know if I'd completely doubt it, but it cant do THAT much harm, can it

false
the exhaust comes after the engine (i don't know if that sounds right, but i can't make what i'm thinking into words).
how can it affect your engine? that doesn't make sense.
your meineke guy is full of bs.

What exactly does "burn your engine out" mean? I've never heard of anyone doing that. He just made it up. Did he offer to add "speed holes" to your car too?

the only way to "burn out your engine" exhaust wise,....is to shove a bannana up that b*tch.
I believe it would at least,.....never tried it myself.

Someone from Meineke told you that.thats really funny.
Exhuast sytems can harm your car if they are to large, you need a certain amount of back pressure to make you car perform right, here at streetrendz.ca we don't reccomend going larger than a 2 1/4" cat back and if you do you will do damage, that guy is right he just didn't explian he self very well.
