Re: performance chip

Hondata. None of the cheapo chips do any more than trick your engine into thinking it's cold outside so they use more fuel for a little bit.

Re: performance chip

Any suggestions from anyone on something that works. I want a little more power and a little more fuel mileage. Is there anything out there?

there isnt. you have a civic and it was designed for fuel economy. if u wanted a faster car, you should have gotten something else. you have the wrong car.

the ONLY way to make ur car faster is to get an engine swap or turbo ur car....both which cost up to $5000+

and hondata is an ecu that is tunable. having hondata with stock components will do almost nothing....its not worth it considering hondata cost around $1000

where are you getting your information Hondata cost around 600$ brand NEW, there is also several other tuning methods available out there if you dont want to dish out the full cash value on a brand name that has done their research. You can get an AEM stand alone, E-Manage, Cobb, K-Pro (if its a K series) and again some of these may meet your required needs some are just crap with no support from the company or anyone willing to tune it for you. Chips are a waste of money as they are preset variables not specified specifically for the additions to your car, quickest way to destroy your motor or something to go wrong. But like he said you have a civic meant for Fuel economy you would be better off trading or swapping in a B series way cheaper, or K series if you have the money to drop upwards of $4,000.

So from reading im going to assume you have an R series 1.8 SOHC, unless you complete rework the internals and along with the proper tune HONDATA is your only option. You can use an AEM standalone or Greddy E-Manage which is utterly useless compared to hondata or the AEM standalone. I Would also not expect to see over 200 whp unless you're boosted.

gotcha but you have to remember the 7th gen Hondata includes WAYYY MORE features than any other its basically a Standalone ECU, which is pretty fair if not underpriced at what they have it priced.

Re: performance chip

Back to the original post: Barnum was correct.

If the website sells PERFORMANCE CHIPS for a vehicle that is carbureted with no electronic controls, then it is a 100% RIPOFF.

http://www.performancechipsdirect.com/Chevy/Corvair/
http://www.performancechipsdirect.com/Chevy/Monza/
http://www.performancechipsdirect.com/Oldsmobile/442/

There are a few others, but most of the rest of the cars listed now at least COULD have had EFI of some sort.

This site has cleaned up their act JUST a little bit since the last time I saw it....At least got rid of some of the...
Unpossible....

They used to sell PERFORMANCE CHIPS for mechanically injected Diesels, and even sold PERFORMANCE CHIPS for your Chevy VOLT.
