exhaust question?!

hello guys, a few months back i bought an ebay axle back n1 style muffler. it has 2 inch piping and a 4 inch tip. i really like the tone it has but its really quiet. i just want it to be louder. im not here for performance but ive got two main choices. ill either have a shop do a 2 inch straight pipe from the cat back or buy an ebay cat back. the ebay pipe is 110 with new muffler too, and thats bigger pipe. although it is resonated, would it be louder than my current stock system? the straight pipe price is unknown but i know itll be loud, and unfortunately ricey, due to no resonator. my main question is, will the ebay cat back probably be a bit louder than my current pipe?

Re: exhaust question?!

I have an ebay cat back (D-Tuning) that i got for 55$. Its loud actually very loud esp without the silencer but sounds good. Only thing I dont like is that its drone prone on the highway and I drive a manual.

ALSO the mid pipes that come with the online kits are VERY low and not a correct fit. I went to a local shop and had them bend me a new mid section for 40$. I was scraping on everything before I got the new pipe bent.

for the price... they sounds good.

I have the same thing and I love it. And... I also will have to replace my mid-pipe section before lowering... haha

The bigger piping definitely makes it loud. The full cat back can actually start to hurt my ears at certain RPMs. The resonator doesn't muffle the sound very much, so not having one won't make it much louder. The purpose of the resonator is to smooth the exhaust tone so it doesn't sound overly raspy.

The online kit I got was only 100$.... basically a 2.5" pipe with a thin tin can on the end. It honestly sounds good but the mid pipe which is only about 3 feet on the kit I got had a nasty low bend to it so I had a new one bent for the 40 not a whole new pipe.

Also I needed to put the stock muffler on for inspection... quiet as can be.... so a new mid pip with the stock muffler will do nothing.

Re: exhaust question?!

ya i know, but nothing makes us punk kids feel better than to annoy people with our ricer. lol. just kidding! what do you guys think it would cost to just have an exhaust shop bend 2 inch pipe from the cat to the axle and install a small resonator to keep the raspy down? on ebay there was a resonator for like 16 bucks..

Re: exhaust question?!

you can get a d-Tuning kit for 115$ shipped.... if your not lowered the mid pipe will be fine.

I am tucked in the front and rear and had to have a new one bent

Re: exhaust question?!

well guys, i didnt even do anything i talked about..lol i went to autozone and bought $14 of 1 3/4" pipe. they came in 18" lengths so i bought 2 ($7 apiece). 1 3/4 od with a 1 3/4 id flare at one end. welded one to my existing pipe, held it up, cut the other down and slid and clamped the two ends. pretty simpl and very cheap. actually not too ricey either, pretty good tone and not overly loud..for <$100 for the entire setup i cant complain..

Nice, if you are not after performance, this is definitely a better decision.
