Engine help

Hello please dont get mad at me if i posted this in the wrong section im sorry ahead of time...

ok so i have D16z6 on my 95 civic....and one day i googled the engine becasue i was bored. Now, i read EVERY D16z6 is Vtec but the valve cover on my engine doesnt say Vtec. So my question is: Are all D16Z6 Vtecs or was i mislead? I read several forums on google but i can not come to a decisive answer..

Thanks

Re: Engine help

yup all d16z6 are vtec. just check the stamp on the engine to make sure it is the same as you think it is. it is a really good engine, prolly the best sohc out there and very easy to build and make power. it starts with 125hp 1.6L but there are tons of parts for it to put you near the 250hp mark depending on budget. it comes stock on 92-95 civic EX and SI, and 93-95 del sol SI. so if you have a stock 95 civic EX that has not been swapped, it should have the original d16z6 in there.

Re: Engine help

ive seen pics of the same z6 engine with different covers (some have vtec on it, some dont). just find the engine block label so you know for sure. someone may have swapped in a different engine completely.
