i got em off ebay, they are still kinda pricey tho even used. from dealer they are around $200 for the set (www.hondaautomotiveparts.com) and fits 01-05 sedans direct bolt on and uses all the same bulbs.

By far the best tail's for the sedans! God, I want them! I have a pretty good excuse too. My left tail is cracked so after a good down poor, rain leaks into my trunk when i open it.

Did you end up going with the ebay brake lights ? If so, how did they turn out ? I'm driving a 97 HX, and spend a lot of time on the road. I'm really interested in the most "visible" option for tail lights. I've looked at superbrightleds.com, but I'm really interested in hearing if the whole assembly with the LEDs was bright or not.

i can suggest brighter filament bulbs if you can post your bulb sizes. those ebay led tails are usually cheap and junky and unreliable.

The bulbs appear to be 7443. Thanks for any suggestions. I really like the idea of the improved reaction time for drivers behind me with LEDs...especially on rainy or foggy days here in central to north Florida.
I'd be willing to shell out the $25/ea for the 7443-R45-T that are listed on the Superbrightled website as their brightest, if I knew people were having good experience with them.

those led bulbs dont work. stock filament bulbs are between 300-500 lumens per bulb. those cheezy led bulb replacements are at best 50 lumens. there is no way they could work for a brake. im using a 5w hi power ELEF led bulb ($100 a pair) from elef-usa.com and they use genuine osram smt led with 200 lumens. and even with that crazy brightness, i still had to add my own optics to focus the light and make it intense enough to pass for a turn signal. i have them only in the turn signal as the brake spot would not be practical due to the limited space back there and the angle of the bulb. im still using filaments for my brakes and the brightest 7443 by far is the polarg lens type bulbs from eautoworks.com ($40 a pair but they last a long time).
here is a pic of the modded elef bulbs glued in the turn signal sockets (hole was too small). the turn bulb also points to the side which means it really has to be bright for any chance at seeing them directly behind the car or in the sun. i posted pics of the led bulbs on the first page already, but here are the outputs. if you have the space behind the housing for the larger size bulbs and dont mind widening the bulb hole and gluing them in, it may be an idea. otherwise stick with the polarg filament bulbs for something brighter.

Well, thats disappointing to hear. If the bulbs aren't backward compatible with decent output, then I wonder if there are any LED tail light assemblies that put out enough light. I saw a kit on an accord (old body) in Gainesville one time that really looked good (and I'm hard to impress).
I may just try some of those polargs you mentioned.

do you have a coupe or sedan? the coupe has a pretty good aftermarket tail with leds already in it. sedan has one too but its much cheaper looking. coupe ones almost look stock. the first pic in the first post shows the led coupe replacements.

yeah those should be nice and bright. the leds are fairly good quality and have built in reflectors. i would try em out. yeah i was referring to the led pnp bulbs being bad. altho most full led tails on ebay arent great either. the style in the first pic is good, i havent heard of any problems with em.

i have them. the quality is the same as OEM. perfect fit, LEDs are bright (ive had em for about 2 years now, and none has dimmed or burnt out).
did i mention they're bright???? it uses superflux leds so they are pretty well lit

Does anyone have the TYC stock 05 replacement tails? Do they closely match the OEM's? Are they good quality? I can't find a decent price on used 05's around $150 used. I can get them new for $190 the TYC's are like $130 shipped, thinking about just buying new but if the TYC's are good I can save some $.
the quality is terrible. at least with my sedan tails from 04-05. the aftermarket oem style part has a poor chrome finish, different (bad) reflectors for the bulbs, dark red tinted plastic instead of oem red-orange, and a bunch of other issues. oh yeah, it would not even fit on the car! there was a huge gap on one side. luckily it was only 1 of the 4 pieces and i ordered an oem piece from the dealer to match the rest. and yeah, it fit together perfectly. so yes, definately stick with oem honda for lighting.

tyc makes good stuff but i dont think they have any led tails. i have tyc headlight projectors and think they are good quality. in that quote above, i was referring to the depo brand "honda replica style" tails that look pretty much the same as oem. they had alot of issues tho.

i have these tyc projectors now, no complaints

+1 I've only ever heard good things about TYC headlights, they're definitely a step-up from the ebay projectors most people buy.

I have a 2000 Civic LX sedan and have been looking everywhere for LED tail lights preferably ones that r smoked or red/smoked do you know of anywhere that will have them i want them to match my r8 style LED projector headlights im getting next year.
