Magnaflow owners/exhaust ppl.
Magnaflow owners/exhaust ppl.
I have a rattling around my resonator. My dad says it's probably a loose baffle in the resonator. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem and/or if that is what is rattling. Trying to keep this short so it will post, lol. Also went to CarX and they said it'll be $70 to cut out the res. and weld in a 2.25 pipe in place. Should I do that? Will it make the exhaust really loud/ sound like a weedwacker?

No, don't let them do that. It will sound like crap without a resonator. Measure the length of your current resonator and buy one of these instead:
Summit 24" $21 glasspack
Summit 18" $22 glasspack
and have them weld it in place of your current resonator. I'm using one as a resonator currently and my car is quieter than stock at idle on 3" exhaust. The turbo also quiets things down a bit, but you will want to run a resonator to avoid sounding like a giant ricer.

Re: Magnaflow owners/exhaust ppl.
are you sure the rattling is coming from the resonator itself. when i first installed mine, the pipe rattled on the subframe right above the control arm. its right after the resonator. check and make sure its not something simple before you go tearing your exhaust apart. it may just need some adjusting.
Re: Magnaflow owners/exhaust ppl.
Check the cat heat shield also, mine was rattling for a while.
If it truly is the resonator, I'd personally replace with a magnaflow one, but that's just me. The glasspacks Foos posted would be fine too, and a little cheaper (although might not last as long)

Finally got around to rechecking the noise, and its definately coming from the resonator. Hangers are still in perfect condition and the heat shield is no where near the resonator. Guess once I get around to wanting to spend the money its getting replaced/removed.
