Door Ding Dent

I have a 2003 Honda Civic Sedan that has 2 tiny ding dents on the driver side door. Are these dents fixable or do I have to replace the whole door to get rid of the dents? I took my car to a Honda Dealer and they told me that they would have to replace the whole door which I thought was totally obscured! If it is fixable without replacing the door how much time and money would it take?

Here's a pic of what the dent looks like. Not the same car but similar dents and a little bigger.

Those dings are fixable. Just look for a paintless dent remover in your area. Look into yellow pages or ask several body shops. I had dings in my car too. I got rid of them by hiring "Dentmasters" and they plucked them right out.

Re: Door Ding Dent

Dents on the accent lines are trickier then a normal dent on a flat panel, but they can be fixed. Keep in mind that if you bring your car to honda with this issue, they sell parts... they dont do body work. They make money on parts sales, and they contract out bodyshop work and make pennies. Of course they are going to tell you that ya need to buy a new door. Thats why nobody on a car site ever brings their ride to the dealer unless they absolutely have to.

Re: Door Ding Dent

As long as the dent doesn't have a crease in it, you're good to go.
Just use the air duster technique.

Re: Door Ding Dent

Yeah man, try the DIY for dry ice.. just buy a small block of dry ice (couple bucks at the most) and just place it in the center of the ding, with as much pressure as you want for a few minutes - it wont scratch the surface. Wait a couple minutes and it should pop right off, or at least pop it out a little. If that fails, try heating the ding with a hair dryer for a couple minutes and immediately spray air duster (spraying the bottle upside down) onto the ding. Pretty crazy techniques but me and my friends have seen them work. Interesting!
