CF hoods: "Kaminari vs. Brand-X" (w/pics)
Alas, my new hood has arrived. I haven't had a chance to get the shop wok done on it yet, but i threw it on none the less. Having owned both, I can give you the dl.
The kaminari hood is unbelievable when set next to my other hood. The weaving is so much cleaner and tighter. The edges are very smooth and tapered. There is a line and a little scuff on the hood, but it will all be taken care of at the shop. It was probably caused during shipping. Wet sanding, buffing and clearcoating are recommended with any cf hood, though the finish on the kaminari looks great even before that.
You can see rashes in the brand-x in a couple spots when you look at it from an angle, though i think that would be taken care of with sanding and clear coat. The kaminari also has predrilled holes for the factory seals, something brand-x is without.
Fitment was pefrectly flus the first time, where with brand x, it took a lot of playing around, and still stuck up a little in the rear.
The only drawbacks i could possibly find with the kaminari are these: it does weigh about 5-10 lbs. more than the brand x, though still lighter than stock. I credit this to the extra material for the ram and for the far superior underskeleton. It is very sturdy and very well built. Whether due to the workmanship, or the weight, the boys at kaminari did not recommend the use of hood pins. I can attest that i don' t think there is any possibilty of the hood flying off.
Also, there are no notches marked for the drilling for the washers. As well, i think that would be a very tricky project to do, with the way the underskeleton is set up.
All in all, the kaminari hood is far superior in quality and looks. There are still a few things i have to do with it, but i promise, it will be slammin Here are a few pics that i whipped off. i will take some more pics of both underskeletons, as well as close-ups on the cf itself later. Let me know what you think and feel free to ask any questions

I don't know? I don't like the projectors with that hood. Something about there being too much black up front all merged together. I would paint the hood except for the inside of the hood scoop. That or paint the inside of the projectors like supermex did.

Chrome Projectors and a silver msh grill would make that car more than show worthy .. I agree with grey..the fronts so black tha's it's making the car lose some appeal.. It is quite nice though I must say !!!

I bought the hood from a local shop for 800 after tax. Thats alot better than i could get straight from kaminari. The other hood is sitting here in my bedroom. If you guys are interested, 200 plus shipping and its yours. Thats with washers to. I's email you all but my email is tow up. As far as the projectors and everything go, the issue is aklready being addressed. i agree that theres a little too much going on. i'll keep you guys updated.
