I am so lost...Racing Seat help.

I'm trying to invest in a good set of racing seats for my 95 civic coupe DX. I don't race so I don't need some "super reinforced uber seat 5 point harness" crap. And I'm NOT buying Sparco! That's like trying to buy a pair of 20 dollar headphones from Alienware...they charge you $400 for the logo.

Anyway...

I just need a decent set of racing seats from any company. Just goin for looks is all. I'm looking for blue on black too btw.

I've found some pretty reasonable seats online and at some local stores...but this is the part that confuses the hell out of me. The brackets.

Do I need a bracket? If I buy a "unversal bracket" can I adjust my seat? I sure would like to tilt my seat back and forth and slide it...do I have to buy a SLIDERmabob too??

could someone PLEASE point me in the right direction...this can't be as hard as I'm making it out to be >_>

I believe you'll need brackets for your car in order to slide back and forth. As for leaning back and forth, that depends on the seat. If you want a moderately priced seat, I kind of like the tenzo R series. Just look for tenzo racing seats on google. I'm pretty sure they have the color pattern you want also. Save up though, a decent set of brackets for your car can go anywhere from 75 to an extra 200 buck over the cost of the seats. Good luck man.

Thank you. I'll look into that. I am farmiliar with Tenzo R so I know of them atleast. 75 to 200 bucks isn't horrably bad though...I'll just have a to save up some more. I found out that the leaning thing was actually a Sparco seat adapter only available for Sparco Seats. I just got confused because Sparco ALSO sells both universal sliders AND universal brackets seperately. This made me think that in order to even have the option on sliding back and forth, I would have to purchace 2 racing seats, 2 universal brackets AND 2 universal sliders.

you're gonna need brackets and sliders. dont get universal brackets because they probably will not fit your car. get specific brackets for it. it may cost a little more initially, but it will save you money cuz you wont have to go to a shop to get them to customize them to your car. and get some sliders that lock on both sides; they're much better.

Ok so...Side locking not bottom...why are they better? From what I've seen most affordable (200-350 a pair) racing seats are attatched on the bottom...not the sides. Or can you install them either way?

OK...so I found these seats...I think I want these ones. Would I be able to install these right off the bat when they arrive? It says they come with sliders already. It also says It comes with an installation kit with it...this makes me believe I can install them right when I get it...what do you guys think?

Re: I am so lost...Racing Seat help.

here are the 93-95 civic specific tenzo brackets
driver side (36 bucks)
passenger side (36 bucks)
sliders for tenzo seats (44 bucks each, you'll need 1 set per seat for obvious reasons)

options auto also has the tenzo seats --->here.. i haven't personally ordered from them, but i imagine they cant be too bad.

good luck with the seat issue

Sweet. Thanks this works...but...they don't have the color I'm looking for. I'm looking for electric blue on black vinel seats. Exactly like the ones I posted that I found...Do you think these brackets will fit Matrix seats?

i dont know about a direct fit, but i'm sure you can make it work.. i originally bought some tenzo brackets for some tenzo rally seats, but i ended up buying some sparcos... the shop i bought them at took the brackets and used some ¼"-ish metal slabs to make the brackets work..

im talking about sliders that lock on both the left and right slider. not just on one of them. the set posted above only lock on one side. get some that lock on both.

Re: I am so lost...Racing Seat help.

I just installed my seats a month or so ago, and I was clueless when I bought the seats, thought the sliders attached directly to the floor of the ar...not the case. So after removing my stock pasenger seat and trying to take the bracket from that and mod it for the new seat I had the dillema of how am I going to get my seat belt to attach again. So I scrapped that and went online and bought some brackets off of ebay, they were only like 40 shipped for both sides. My and a friend still had to do some welding to get the sliders to fit properly to the brackets, but eventually it all worked, and I couldn't be happier. Def get some seats man, I would recomend real racing seats I, and not the shitty ones you can find for like 50 a piece. There is actually someone who makes their own pro quality ****...for really cheap.
Ill find the link....tomorrow haha

Hey man, definitely get whatever you want...but that vinyl gets kinda nasty in the summer. It gets hot like leather (even though I love leather seats) and is a little more "sticky" for lack of a better word. Like I said, get whatever you'd like, but consider some kind of cloth or textured material that might not be as "tacky" once it heats up. And good luck.

actually, if my memory serves me correctly, the tenzo sliders lock on both sides. i have the tenzo cliders attacked to my sparcos and when trying to make an adapter to let my sister reach the pedals (i'm 5'7" and with the sparcos, i had the seat scooted all the way forward; my sister's 5'1") i remember getting frustrated that i accidentally got them locked unevenly

i get my car back later on this afternoon, so i'll check that

Re: I am so lost...Racing Seat help.

You need your car specific slider/bracket.

If you are go universal route, you will probably spend more than buying the right one in the first place.
Plus the most of the time, local welders sucks

You know when you buy parts that directly relates to your life.
Money shouldn't be issue..

I currently run Bride slider/rail, side mounts and no Issues.
