Im pissed off... brakes always sqweeking!
Im pissed off... brakes always sqweeking!
Its starting to really **** me off
I have brembo blanks, and hawk pads (Street)
I have a bad memory with the rotors but i think i had them machined/re-done (which is probably why im in this situation).
Im just going to get new rotors and pads... what are some good combinations?
I just want brakes that wont ****ing sqweek, its getting really ****ing loud and annoying to pull up to a red light at 5mph, and sound like a truck
the car is starting to stop with little bumps... guessing this also has to do with the rotors
whats the deal with braking fluid? or something else to make sure brakes are "cool"?
any ideas are highly appreciated, as u can tell I want this done ASAP as I cant stand this sound

Just quick ideas to check:
1.) Look at the wear on your rotors and ensure they are not warped. Or take them off and check them with a ruler or straight edge across the "face" of the rotor to be sure.
2.) Check your rotors/calipers for buildup of brake dust and spray then down with any $2 can of brake cleaner from Autozone or anothe rauto parts store. This is done while the brakes are apart to make sure it's clean.
3.) Take a good look at your pads off the car to ensure there is even wear in the pair. They should not be wearing down at a weird angle, or one side quicker than the other. This means you have a brake problem, most likely in the caliper itself, which is easy and cheap to rebuild.
4.) You can always try to bleed your brakes. Sometimes either extremely small bubbles (usually not the case) or any buildup of water in your brake fliud can cause a slight pressure variant in your brake hose, which can cause uneven force on the pad itself, therefore a squeak.

the "little bumps", i assume you guys are talking about shaking of the steering wheel, that means your rotors are warped (slightly curved).... cure? New rotors.
as for the squeaking, pep boys and as them for anti seize or anti sqeal, anti brake noise... blah blah blah. they they DO NOT go between the two pads... between the two pads is the rotor. this grease goes on the backing of the pad where goes on contact with the calipers. doesnt matter how you spread it on the back, can load it up with a thick layer (which might help quiet slightly better) if you want or a thinner layer.

Miss information after miss information after miss information ....... ALL brakes will squeek. There are things you can try to reduce/eliminate the squeek. But first fix the known problem your having, the brake pulsation ( as you describe ) This can be cured by machining the front brake rotors. I suggest having them machined ON the car ( much more acurate ) . Its ONLY needed to replace the rotors if they are below the machine to thickness, or if your ****. Next are the brake pads wearing even from the right side to lkeft side of the car? If they are not then usually its easier to just replace the brake calipers, or you can rebuild them. Next if they appear to be wearing evenly remove the brake pads and slightly bevel the edges of the pads. Sometimes sharp edges of the brake pads can enduce noise. This can also be paint that the manufacture paints on the pads. Next would be to lightly deglze/sand the pad surface 120 ish grit paper. Next clean and lubricate the caliper slides with a high pressure high tempature grease DESIGNED for brakes. Also use a SMALL amount of some of this same lube between the backs of the brake pad and the caliper, NOT on the brake pad material surface. Then reinstall all parts and test drive
hate to brake it to you guys but the hawk brake pads are known to squeek like crazy. Mine squee too.... you'll get use to 'em. Everyone told me that they'd squeek even before i bought 'em. Its in every review.

take some stop-squeak or some dielectrode/brake grease and put it in the bolt slides for the caliper, also on the thin metal (removable) plates that the pads fit in....trying to say grease the friction points.

mine didn't squeak for the better part of a year.. maybe longer, and now they just squeak when im turning and braking, and it's only noticable with the windows down..
when I drive my dad's car with stock brakes I still love my powerslot rotors and hawk pads.

why are your rotors warped?. do you have all of your lugs torqued to the right spec OR all at the same torque? having 1 or 2 lug nuts torqued differently than others would make your rotors warp. it's possible.
im using brembo drilled ans slotted rotors and hawk HPS pads. Ive also got DOT4 super blue racing brake fluid in all 4 corners. the pads squeak sometimes but a little coat of Molycote 77 lube like honda recomonds takes quick care of any noise. as long as your rotors, pads, calipers and lines are in good condition, your only noise should be from the pad tabs to the caliper bracket.
