Performance Chip
Performance Chip
Hey guys. I bought a performance chip from Ebay, i searched "2005 Civic Si Chip" and it's the only one that comes up (Raceinc Technologies). I took it to a local performance shop and asked them about it, they said they've never seen it before and wouldn't install it for me. Do you guys know if that chip is safe for my car or if it will give me any problems or cause any damage? Thanks for the help!
P.S. I ordered the one for the 2.0L engine SIR...I will be exchanging it for the 1.7L EX version (got mistaken by the US/Canada conversion); however, if you tell me otherwise, I will just get a refund.

dont use it...... if it's 1 of those typical "performance chip", I believe it fools the engine into thinking there is more air being fed than there actually is.....
Last time I had this much fun some furniture got broken!

Its a resistor. All it does is make the voltage lower for whatever the sensor is outputting. Basically it makes the ECU see conditions that are not really there.
Its a waste of money, so don't bother.

the one you bought is a $.15 resistor that they wire dinto a box. it resists the signal comming from the IAT or internal ambient temperature sensor. what it does is makes the computer think your getting colder air than what you really are. this advances the timming and increases fuel. well the o2 will recognize the added fuel and it will also compensate so it really wont do much of anything. you have got to do research on these types of things. remember your car is your transportation do you really want to put some crap on it that you have no idea what it does
Thanks a lot guys, I'm going to return the damn thing back to the seller.
ghOst -- I didn't ask before I bought the stupid thing because I found this site afterwards. I'm glad that I found it though.
It's amazing how much first hand information you can find in here, thanks a lot guys!!
