well all oem spec glass in general is glass... if you want to reinforce your window the cheap way get it tinted... the tint holds the window together making it harder for them to get in.. but it just takes them a little longer.. lol.. they do have reinforced window with wires in it but i dont know if they make it for our cars yet... saw it a SEMA convention

Tint actually makes it easier. If I was a burglar I would put tape over the glass before cracking it so glass would not go everywhere, making a bunch of noise, but that is just hypothetical.

You can get a plexiglass rear window, but those are made so that subs wont shatter them, nothing to do with security.

Oh, just read your whole post, I dont know, but I would imagine it is all pretty standard tempered glass.

glass is glass bro... specially for civics, honda uses the cheapest glass and slaps on the honda on it.
My windsheild cracked from a chip on the hiway last month. I took it to the shop and the dude showed me a "honda" windsheild and an aftermarket windsheild... no difference what so ever! It was identical in everyway!
It makes a difference when you're driving a mercedes or beemer and you have to decide whether you wonna go with OEM or aftermarket, but in this case, just get the aftermarket glass for your door. Its half the price. No use paying so much!

theoretically it doesnt make as much noise... but based off 2 experiences i would have something less to say otherwise...

first time my ex gf locked here keys in the car and has no door handles on her car cause she has door poppers... apparently since we couldnt get it open we cracked the window which made it real quick and easy and made lots of noise.

summer time rolls around we tint here car and limo tint it all around. and once again she locks her keys in the car... had to break window again but this time we were hacking away a good 5-10 minutes with a hammer cause even though the window was all cracked the tint was holding it together...

so NOISE wise its beneficial for a theif in my opinion for there to be tint wise less noise......

but TIME wise its not beneficial to have tint cause they would be hacking away at it too long...

so thats what happened in my overall experience

the reason i asked is cuz last time someone broke in i had a mobile service come out and replace the window. but i could totally tell a difference between the OEM and replacement. the replacement seemed thinner and it would vibrate in its track when i was on the freeway - if i pushed against it, it would stop...so i figured aftermarket glass was maybe a bit thinner.

anyways...i got after market again, but from a differnt place. and its fine.

thanks for the input!
