Bad weekend for modding...

Well this weekend pretty much went to hell in a handbag. Started off on Saturday by trying to install my new grille which did not fit worth a damn. Found this out after taking out the 147 screws that hold the 1 pound piece of plastic on the front. So I ditched that idea and kept confident that I was going to pick up my brand new JSP CF hood at Summit Racing on Sunday.

Woke up in the morning, drove there, picked it up, got attitude from the sales guy because I wanted to look at it first before driving an hour and a half back home, and then left. We stopped at my friend's house to drop off his dad's truck and put the hood in his. He had to go to his grandpa's so I just told him that I would meet him at my house. We did not strap down the hood for the 5 minute drive to my house by the way. 10 minutes later he calls me and says I need to come meet him by the highway cause the hood flew out of the truck on the way. I get there to find out that the hood is 100% OK. Somehow it landed perfectly on the road at 65 MPH so that nothing would happen.

So we get to my house and get my hood off and start putting on the CF. We get it bolted on only to see that the hood was badly warped. The driver's side was below the fender and the passenger side was 3 inches above the fender and there was like a 1 inch gap between the hood and my headlights. Needless to say we drove back to Summit and returned it with more attitude from the sales people. The brand I bought was a JSP which I thought was a great company from every other one that I've seen but I guess not. So no CF for me, but now I've got my money back to finish my other little projects.

Very disappointed with the quality of the hood and the friendliness of Summit's staff (which has never happened before.) But oh well, life goes on and other things come up to do. Thanks to anyone who reads this thread and for listening to me vent my anger.

Adam

That sucks man. Get a VIS or a seibon hood. I have a VIS and the fitment is awesome. I hear seibon is a little better though. Good luck.

Oh its a beautiful store....pretty convenient being that close to such a major provider. Prices aren't always the best but they do have a great inventory.

Honestly, for starters, I very much doubt you told the salesman your complete story. I for one would be leaning on that "trip on the highway" to causing some damage - regardless if it "looks" okay.

Well thats the difference between you reading the story and seeing the hood. You could drop a carbon fiber hood from a building and it wouldn't bend, it would crack or shatter. Just believe me when I say that the highway trip had nothing to do with that. And secondly, if it was you, would you tell the salesman that and risk not getting your money back from your poorly made hood? I don't think so....
