for people who have custom exhaust
what i wanted to ask is how loud is your car with the resonator removed? i installed a magnaflow muffler with 2 1/4 piping and no resonator and it sounds really nice but its more louder than i expected. if i put back the resonator how quiet will it get?
If I may ask what may be a stupid question...but why not get a cat-back exhaust, like a DC, Greddy or Magnaflow ?
How much do you actually save when you do a custom exhaust ? Is it worth it over a full cat back system ?

If you look at the price difference it makes a huge difference, why pay 700 dollars when you can pay 250, i know a guy who is going to get me dual exhaust with 2, 250 dollar mufflers with piping and everything for 500$
Wow, that much huh ? See, I don't know because I am getting a cat-back...
I didn't know you could get a custom for that cheap !! Are they louder though.....?
And will you have enough back pressure with the dual....??

Joe, if you put the original resonator back, it will be pretty quiet, put a Magnapack resonator in (its what we use in our catback systems) it will tone it dow, put not totally kill the sound...What part# Magnaflow muffler did you get????
It will be pretty much like a normal exhaust system, just a different sound, and it looks better. As far as back pressure goes it is no worse or better. No exhaust on a naturally aspirated car is going to give a very noticable gain. If you add a turbo on the other hand there will be a much better gain.
i payed 150.00 for my custom pipeing and 130 for the ractive stanless steel muffler...i though it was a good deal....and if u give ur exhaust a couple of days it will quite up some after the break-in peirod.

<< 2.5 inch mid pipe.. universal hks hiper >>
he didn't ask you what exhaust you have. he wanted to know if your car was loud once the resonator was removed
anyway, joe, i have the apex'i N1 with 2.5" pipes. the size of the pipes alone without the resonator made the exhaust sound pretty loud but still low and deep. if you get the 2.25", it should sound ok. it all depends on your volume preference
duals huh? hmmm i've heard that duals actually decrease performance, our engine's don't actually need duals. So you'd probably be better off just getting a dummy pipe if you like the look of duals. BTW, a Magnaflow cat back can be had for like 300 can't it?
