M3 mirror led promlem
M3 mirror led promlem
I bought m3 mirrors off of ebay and i installed them according to the diy, everthing worked fine, Then i notice my blue led's arn't working one burn't out on driver side mirror so i check everthing, seem's fine a few days go by and passenger side no blue led's working. so i check everthing again and still nothing. So i contact seller, tell them the situation and send them back. few weeks i get replacement's. Install them wire the same as befor. I checked everthing blue led's and yellow led's working correctly. I got to get something to eat them wire up power for mirrors. think everthing is ok, a few hrs later i get ready to leave so i check everthing no blue led's at all none working. then when i start driving i notice one working on drivers side and 2 on passengers side then the quit working again. Next day i chacked everthing seems ok. Now i only have 1 blue led working on drivers side, so i disconected everthing and say forget it. any idea's on why they keep burning out? I saw a post on how to take apart m3 mirrors but i can't find it again can any one find it. i also saw on their that you can replace led's any one know excactally how to do that?

1st off i had them and they are crapola.
to fix the blue LEDS go buy a bunch (6) from radioshack (~3.6 volt) BLUE!!!
hold a well heated soldering iron on the back of the board that holds the LEDS and remove the old ones. install new blue leds. done. i did it before i scrapped the whole thing cause the mirrors are useless.
the leds they give you are absolutly terrible!

there is prob no resistor connected to the LEDs. LEDs are diodes, if they do not have a load connected to them (ex. resistor) they will burn out due to the fact that too much amps are running in. Just replace them with some nice new LEDs and make sure to properly resist the amps/voltage.
