Phantom Grip LSD Conversion Kit
I was lookin for a LSD for my 2002 civic lx and I came across this. It says
" 84-03 Honda CRX, EX, DX Trans=Any
Note: SOHC/DOHC (VTEC/non-VTEC)"
So do you think this would work on my 7thgen or what? This would be really nice since no one makes a real LSD for our cars.

I am going to send them an e-mail and see what they say

this isnt an LSD.
basically, this is 2 steel plates that install between the gears in the spider gears of your tranny. They have 4 strong springs that load the gears, which keep them from letting one side slip.
They are good for a relatively low powered car (say stock, small mods). But once you start making some decent power, one tire will slip anyway. It will just compress the springs, and one gear will slip.

I have no hard proof that it fits fine, but I do recall Opto found that it should fit properly.

Maybe you should offer proof before stating that!

All it is is a spring loaded friction disk. Its a locker. But it wears out quickly because its just a clutch. Its not a gear set like a Quaife, its not helical or viscous, and its not a 16 or 32 plate wet clutch like a Kaaz, its a little clutch that keeps your diff from slipping. It costs you god knows how much to put in and you need to keep taking it out and fixing it. All it takes is a bit of technical know how to comprehend how it works and some common sense to figure out when something is $300 and all the rest are $600+ something got cheaped.

If are still selling them then I doubt that they are **** & break all the time. I don't think that they are for 300+ HP applications, but for a 7th gen vic with a turbo boosting 5-8 psi, and some other basic performance mods it should not be busting. When you get into the full racing setup then a stronger LSD type should be employed for sure.

Or instead of a quaife you could get an OBX LSD from ebay for about $400...Last I checked.
The OBX's were supposed to be damn close knockoffs of quiafes, they even handle a shitload of power - there were a few threads on honda-tech about them a while back.
The 6th gen LSD should fit the 7th gen tranny - according to the specs. From what I know, no-one on here has done it though - just a few members have the crappy phantom grip (sorry canadian2k1si - no rip on you).
I honestly wouldn't waste my money on that, esp since the teardown cost to install it are the same weather you have a true LSD or well, a phantom grip.
