18's don't fit, please help!!!

Hey guys,
I just put on a set of 18" Focals with 215/35/18 Toyos and they don't fit right. I mean they fit on the car, but when I turn the wheel, they rub quite a bit. Is this normal, or am I doing something wrong. I am not sure what to do, so please let me know. And by the way, I still only have stock suspension.
Thanks for the help

No the car isn't lowered, I don't think I could lower it. I am not sure on the offset, I think it +42. I know it is a front wheel drive wheel, my friend had them on an Integra.

yeah, need to know how much your car is dropped but even that shouldn't matter. 215/35/18 is actually slightly smaller than factory. i am riding on 215/40/18 with about a 2 3/4 inch drop and have absolutely no problems.

If you have 7.5 offset or width of the rims. Chance your tire will rub agains your fender. You need to cut your fender and dont forget to repaint it

Probably 42mm offset with 8" wide rims. Are only the rears rubbing? If so, you just need to roll the rear fender, or shave some of it off. If its the front that's rubbing, then the offset is probably 48mm or more. In which case you can roll the front fenders(a little), or possibly take out your wheel wells.

ALRIGHT check it,,,,,,,,,, The exact same thing happend to me,,,,,,,,
the wheels only rub when the car is IN THE AIR,,,,am i right????????????????

when you drop the car back down they wont rub,,,,,,,,

are they rubbing on the side strut tower??????? inside the wheel well right??????

just use a die grinder and shaave a little of that black goopy crap off of the strut housing and drop the car back down
you will be fine.....

the only way they will rub is if you catch air,,,,i mean litteraly jump your car,,,,,,then the wheels will stop....but you will hopefully never abuse your car like that....so therfore you will be fine.

damn.............hope that helped

Hey SiRACER !!! Those aren't the F10's your having a problem with is it? I was planning on get the F10 but now you've got me thinking. Do you have a coupe or a sedan? I drive a Sedan, and I planned on going with the 18's.

The major question you need to ask yourself is, "Did I buy rims that are 18x7 or 18x7.5?" If you bought the 18x7.5's, then chances are that your wheels are rubbing because the rims are just too wide for the given offset that you got. You got pretty much two options; (1) return/sell your rims to get a size that fits correctly or (2) roll/shave your fenders/wheel wells.

i have 18x7.5 with a 42mm offset and it works great so check your offset if you have any thing lower than a 40offset thats why its rubing.

I am having all kinds of problems trying to lower my 4 Door EX. I have posted a thread and need help. My question here is how do you "shave your wheel wells?" Roll the metal, cut it ...or what? I had the camber kit installed and the full alignment done and now my right rear is rubbing. I have 17x7s and run 215/45/17s. I have a lot of metallic popping sounds coming from the rear end. It sounds like my car is going to fall apart. The H&Rs are not made for the 4Dr EX. Eibach, Neuspeed et all have one kit for all 2001/2 Civics. H&R said that some cars have one strut longer than another on the back end. Maybe mine is. Don't know yet. I am going to find a rubber spring seat that will work for my unit and raise the back end about .75 to 1" to even out the drop. I can't figure out a way to lower the front anymore. Just be careful who does your work. My car is all fragged now. When I pulled out the rear seat today to try and find the noise, I had some tools under my seat banging around and found that the shop did not install the washer over the grommet on top of the strut. Fixed all that and still have the metallic popping sounds. Only now they are worse plus the tire is rubbing. Good grief! The strut boot looks crooked on the right rear and when I install the spring seat I will figure out if I have the two unequal strut problem and figure out why my car sounds so crap. Also, even though my wheels are aligned perfectly, by car still tends left, so maybe my right rear is causing the problem.
