Question on blacked out headlights

i'm not sure if this is the right spot to post this but here goes
i've been planning to blackout my headlights soon but i was wondering if i could use instead of the high temp paint flat black paint if i could use the duplicolor nighthawk black pearl pain? Also should i clear coat it after i paint it.
if any one has pictures of how the reflector comes off of an of 04 they would be greatly appreciated

should be posted in the lighting forum.
so far from what i've read for 04's you gotta sand down the chrome par and......prime it? coz the paint won't stick on properly if you don't. Do a search and you'll find more. good luck.

you don't have to use high temp. paint, but you can if you want to. It costs a few bucks more though. Before you paint, take some fine grit sandpaper and rough up the chrome a little bit, to give the paint something to stick to. Also, you can get a primer that is designed to adhere to plastic, which is what I used. That then normal gloss black spray paint, then a clear coat. The clear coat dulls the gloss a little bit, but clear coat is always a good idea. Since the headlight is enclosed, though, it should be OK without one.

It should look pretty cool, as long as you prime it and put a protectant clearcoat on. I wanna see someone colormatch their headlights....instead of using black, put red on a red civic, or blue on blue, etc....

i used nhbp paint on my lights. Had it put in a aerosol can and then put some clear on it. looks good. you can really see the pearl in person. There is someone who did it in like a lime green for their lime green car. looks good.
