What size air compressor to get?
Ok, I want to get an air compressor for home use that I can use a impact wrench and air ratchet and other tools with. I want to be able to use them for prolonged periods of time. Otherwords, be able to use them for more then 5 sec. without having to stop and let the compressor air back up.
So far I have been told that a 30 gallon, 2-3 HP one will do the job, but then a tech at work said if I want to be able to use the tools for long periods of time, to get a 60 gallon, 5 HP one. He also said that with the 30 gallon or 2-3 HP ones, I want be able to take off tough bolts or what not.
Also on some of the ones I have seen, like the 25 gallin ones, it says they dont recommend using air tools with them.
What would you all recommend? I want to get this just so I can work on my car at home. I plan on doing the timing belt soon and would like to use an impact on the crank bolt, and use it for other jobs.

Now,seriously! PSI is PSI! That is controled by the max output of your compressor!
Tank size controls how long you can maintain that pressure! The larger the tank, the longer the pressure remains at peak! Usually larger tanks are used by painters, ect
I have an old Sears 1hp(220 volt) 30 galllon that will do anything I ask!!

Includeing painting cars!
