Aftermarket Chips
Ok Im guessing this is the right forum for this type of thread because there is no forum that lists ECUs as part of it and dont lambast me for not searching first cuz i did search and found a bunch of stuff about headers instead but anyways, does anyone know much about aftermarket computer chips for our cars and what kind of hp numbers they produce? I know a company called JET can either modify our stock chip or put in a brand new one and they use a technique called Dynamic Spectrum Tuning which makes power throughout the entire rpm range! like i said i dont know how much power it will actually make on our ECUs i just know how they tune the chips! I know it will not produce alot of power but i am looking for one last little slight power adder and I believe this will be what I am looking for! Any non-negative input would be appreciated!

Non negative? LOL, it's a waste of money (if they even offer an upgrade to our cars). Why don't you go ahead and buy the Venom400 instead
In all seriousness, even if you COULD find a chipped ecu (ours cant be chipped) it wouldent give you noticable gains. If you want some cheap power only to use every once in a while, get some n2o

The Venom 400 is a waste of money! I have one and it doenst do sh*t except suck up gas! No bs i went through a full tank of gas in three days with the venom 400 on(not even using it all the time). When i turned it off (and seriously didnt notice a loss in what little power that thing may have been making) i went over a week on a full tank of gas! With gas prices on the rise i dont particularly want to be wasting it! BTW here is a link to a review about how worthless that thing is! http://www.7thgencivic.com/parts_rev.../cat/19/page/1 Read FamilyCar's review! And At least with a chip upgrade it's power that is acutally coming from your ecu and not some mock computer that tricks your ecu into thinking its making more power than it really does! And btw JET can tune pretty much any chip even domestics! I contacted them and they said that they can tune my ecu! I mean sh*t not everyone wants nitrous or has the money to spend on it! Is there anything wrong with wanting a daily driver thats just a little bit faster than stock? Why does my car have to be force fed or other realtively expensive performance parts to be non-stock? Some people like their daily drivers but with chipped ecu's!

Oh I understand and chipped ones, but I'm pretty sure ours cant be chipped because of something inside the ecu.. I forgot exactly, maybe it has to do with something called loop though.. I'm not sure

OMG are you serious? We don't even run a CLOSE ecu to the cars they have stated there? 7thgen Civic and Del Sol? Someone needs to be shot and gutted.
Our cars can be chipped but it's not worth the money or the hassle. You will have about a week of down time while you send you chip off to them then when you get the chip the only gauge you will see move faster is your gas gauge, waste of money and time imo. Honestly if you want hp start saving for a turbo. Costly yes but well worth it. I explored other options too to gain hp but in the end a turbo is the best choice, short of doing a motor swap. N2o is a cheaper source of hp but I've never been a big fan..
