Cold Air Intake Bypass valve?

hey i just put a cold air intake on my car (yeah it was from ebay) and i was driving in the rain and my engine started sputtering. my friend told me to get a 'bypass valve'. i did a quick search and i could only find em for about 40 dollars on ebay and various websites, only the AEM brand. is there anywhere i could pick one up for cheaper (i paid almost that much for the intake)

thanks.

yea, i think only AEM makes them. u can try to find one used i guess for cheap. but AEM by-pass-valve is the way to go if u want to get one.
either that or get a short ram.

the bypass valve will defeat the purpose of the cold air intake, just FYI.

also, the bypass valve is pretty much unnecessary. your car was probably sputtering from something else. the bypass valve will only prevent sucking up water from total immersion, which is not usually what happens.

regardless, your engine can take some water/mist into the engine (ever heard of water injection?). just dont mash the gas when driving through a large puddle and you'll be fine.

Sorry, but thats not true. It only allows significant air bypass once a preset vacuum is drawn.
