OEM fogs and lamin-X film READ NOW!!
Okay here's the story. Remember my fog lights were smoking a while back and now there's a burning spot on one of em? Well I always thought it was the silver paint I put on the bulb tip, and then the actual nokya bulbs that were the problem. Well WRONG and WRONG to both. The paint is fine, and bulbs are stock wattage. Well guess what I do? Peel off that lamin-x protective film and voila! No more burnt spot. The heat had actually burned the film, but the fogs were fine! Yayyyyyy... Now I don't know what to do about rocks and stuff that might break the fogs, and I'm gonna see what www.lamin-x.com has to say about this. I'll post pics of the film if you guys want. You know what I think happened is the weather started getting warmer and then it happened.

Ya well their site says melting point is 300 degrees, and I'm not sure how hot the bulb gets...but I'm sure whatever the temp the sealed hosing only makes it hotter. I'm just glad the fog lens didn't burn, although there's some residue from the laminx I couldn't remove.

Well it was a big burn dark brown size or a dime but more around the edges too. If you have hid, I doubt anything will happen. Those run alot colder than halogen.

i have oem fogs (real not fake). At least the lenses didn't have burns on it. But man that laminx smelled terrible when I pulled it off.

hmm well they replied fast and offered my free replacement of thinner film. They said 20 mil dissipates heat better than 40, but I already had the 20 to start. So I don't know what they'll do. It's just not working.

change to stock wattage bulbs or just fry the film agian. I would not run oem fogs without that film unless you like the cracked kind.

This is a common thing. I remember reading on clubrsx.com a while back that some members had the lamin-x on their fogs and it did the same thing.... Nice burn patch in the middle.

I'm talking to the rep, and I'm gonna send pics tonight. We'll see what they say. I'm not gonna put more on and have it burn. It was smoking before and that is a hazard. Other people here have had oem fogs for a long time without film and no cracks.
Titanium Metallic. You got a problem with that?

It might be becuase of the coating that you put on your bulbs that throws off additional heat that your OEM fogs are accustomed to putting out? Thats what I would gather.
