Help I messed up my bumper!
I was parking at work today in the parking garage and i rear ended the wall. i was backing into a space at an angle of about 60 degrees and i misjudged the distance and hit the wall idleing. I was really moving slow but i knocked the bumper on the right hand side out of where it supposed to be. its hard to explain. on the side of the car where it connected with the body about a foot from the end of the car its sticking out 3/4 of an inch maybe less. the bumper itself only has a white scratches on it. I think i can buff those out pretty easy, but how do i fix the bumper and get it back on the mounts.
i had a similar problem when i was tryign to parallel and scratched the **** out of my bumper on a light post. I couldn't buff it out completely, but I got it out quite a bit. Get some touch up paint perhaps to fix what is scratched too deep?
Good luck man, it sucks having that happen.. my dad busted his front bumper twice in 1 year!!

Okay, a honda bumper is a 5MPH impact. Meaning up to 5 MPH it will retain its shape. So i doubt your bumper is out of shape at all but to be safe. take the flat of your hand and rub the impacted and past it a couple of inches. You're feeling for dips, don't let the texture fool you. Feel a dip, going to have to get it filled and repainted. But I doubt its that sevear just alittle FYI.
Only thing I can think of is that the plastic peice that the cover is either broke or not setting right.
Where the tip of the cover meets the quarter panel, there will be a 8MM screw bolt remove it, a push clip underneat the bumper at each corner. Grab the corver and give it a tug, you'll hear a pop and then the cover should be partially off, check the black plastic peice that the cover lips on. Look for the plastic to be bered up. if it isn't tr to fit the bumper and give it a smack and see if it fits right. If it still fits bad, the plastic peice is bad. Only about $7.53 for a new one.
3m Extra cut if the scratches are sort of deep if they're clear scratches not deep use a polish compund.
Hope I got it covered right.

I hit mine not too long ago too. It is really easy to clip back on if it looks like this:

If the clips on the side are broken or damaged then you're going to have a hard time. I popped this back on with my knee, because I didn't have a rubber mallet. The part immediately underneath the tail light doesn't sit flush but the sides are perfect.
Hope that helps.

Thats almost exactly what it looks like, the part under the tail light isnt quite as popped out. Thanks... phew i was worried i did major damage with it stickin out like that.
Tail light doesn't fit flush because on that one, its a medal plate the tail light will rest on, you can still adjust the tail light to fit. Also you don't need a rubber mallet. You don't know how many accord, civic, crv, etc bumpers I slam wil the palm of my hand to make them fit. Works well, don't be afraid to give it alittle love tap.
