shifter knob threads
shifter **** threads
Does anyone know the pitch of the OEM shifter **** threads? I believe they are 10 mm, but I don't know the pitch - maybe 1.25mm? Also, does anyone know if the threads for a 2001 civic are the same as those in a 2000?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Thanks! Some near-future variations will include a 2.5-inch diameter ball **** (for large hands) and a larger Hurst-style ****. One guy at work has given me a small flag to embed in the resin. It should look unique in his Datsun Z.

Bob,
What's the diameter of the VooDoo ****? Do you have any calipers so you can measure it? I know that the Hurst ball-***** are 2 and 1/4 inches in diameter, but I've heard that some manufacturer's ***** are only 2-inch.

I can make red, blue, yellow, green, orange, purple, and any shade of these colors (although light-red ends-up looking pink). My plan is to install a few in coworkers Hondas for "Field Testing". If I get the thumbs-up, I'll post something in this forum.
Bob, I didn't realize it at first, but that second link contains a pretty good list of vehicles and their shift **** thread sizes. That'll save me alot of research time - thanks again!

that would be cool if you could get one silverish in color
I saw a similar **** on a coworker's Civic a while ago and his **** had a nut underneath, too. I'm trying to get away from having to have a hexagonal locking device, primarily because it tends to take away from the looks. Picture a mirror-polished cylinder that is about 1.5-inches long under the ****. You can grab it with Channellock pliers and a strip of rubber (to protect the aluminum finish) when you lock it to the shift ****. I may also throw in some removable Loctite threadlocking liquid as an extra precaution.
I'm going to try this with hexagonal aluminum. However, there are some process difficulties to overcome. Let's say that I extend the hex rod from inside the **** and down to the shifter boot. The hex rod shape is great to prevent the **** from spinning on the rod, but if you normally hold the shifter so that some of your hand is below the bottom of the shift ****, the hex-shape may not feel comfortable.
Now if I just encapsulate a small length of hex rod and then use a round rod to lock up against the bottom of the shifter and extend down to the boot, the hex rod would have to be positioned exactly in the center of the bottom part of the ****. Otherwise, the round locking shaft would not be centered and would look pretty bad, once assembled.
It's alot easier to machine a threaded hole in the **** after the plastic **** has cured. When it is still liquid, positioning the hex rod on-center is tough because the mold is made of soft silicone.
Still, I'll give it a try and see how it turns out - good suggestion!

Thanks! I'll be pouring some more colors soon (and since two people have requested purple so far, one of the show-***** will be purple) and will drill and tap them to present a realistic image. An advantage that a Honda **** will have over one for a Corvette is that I will not have to thread the Honda's in as far. Therefore, more translucency will be visable.
