Rep Power: 246 Muffler Volume when Cruising?
First off, I'm a newbie when it comes to the whole import scene and performance mods so bare with me on these questions. I recently got a magnaflow muffler put on and keep my stock piping. Now when I accelerate, my muffler gets off a nice deep low tone but when I'm cruising I have to listen kinda hard to hear my muffler. Is this Good or Bad? Because when I see other cars cruising that have exhaust, I can hear theirs pretty good. Will getting a full catback system give me that deep tone that I can hear when I'm cruising? If not, What can I do? Any feedback and/or suggestions is welcomed...

Rep Power: 255 Most cat backs will be louder @ crusing speeds than just a muffler. Also removing the stock resonator will make it LOUDER. If you want to keep your magnaflow I would have custom pipe bent from the cat back & have them put on another resonator on (maybe get 2 1/4 inch pipe & 2 1/2 resonator so as not to restrict flow). I understand that most of us want some noise BUT keep in mind that being too loud draws attention. And maybe not the attention you want (aka police).

Rep Power: 0 i'm pretty gettin' a cat back would do the trick..
so you basically bought a muffler and had them
cut off your old one and put this one on right?
so.. it's kinda like a bottleneck effect.. what you
can do is go back to the muffler shop and get
them to create a custom catback with piping that
i think is usually 2 1/4" ? ..not sure, but that would
be the easiest way and thus you'd be able to keep
the magnaflow muffler u bought alrdy.. shouldn't
cost much..

Rep Power: 246 Thanks for the advice. Yeah, my magnaflow muffler has a 2.25" inlet. Ok, if I go to the muffler shop what do I tell them exactly to do? Also, how can I gauge how loud its going to sound with a custom catback or am I just trying a chance?

It's not like you get any gains from it.

Rep Power: 0 how do you get gains from catback and cant from having custom pipe made? its alot cheaper!
also i have a magnaflow and i had 2 1/4 inch pipe ran and had my resonator cut off and it sounds major rice. i had that welded back on and its is as quiet as my stock muffler. kinda sux to pay the money and get nothing

Installed the magnaflow and drove for 380miles each way, that droning sound is annoying as F&&K. It would have been better if the sound is quieter above 3K rpm. Imagin traveling at 80MPH for 200miles where the RPM needle is around 3.5k rpm
Sure it sounds nice when shifting, but when going for a long trip
