Question Bout Makin Grills
i want to do this grill...i think they made with mesh from home depot......cant really find info on how this is done...i think the silver one was put over the stock grill...if u have done this can u help me ouT? thnks and i have 2004 civic

EDIT: I forgot that the Coupes and Sedans have different grills. What I wrote was regarding a Sedan grill.
For the coupes, it looks like you just cut off the plastic mesh thats on there and then replace it with mesh of your choice. A very simple looking job.
From looking at the pictures you provided and pictures of a stock 2004 civic, it looks like alot of work. I'm just guessing this is how it was done.
You couldn't find too many people who did this so obviously its not easy to do?

It looks like the middle bar on the grill where the H is was cut off.
If there is a hole there it was probably filled in with bondo.
Sand it down to make it smooth.
Get some paint in your color code and give it a few coats.
Theres many types of glue you can use to attach the grill to the steel mesh.
Go to Home Depot and get creative.

Rep Power: 0 I put a grill on my car, that was universal. It would be the same concept. You can spend 40 (autozone checker, etc.) or maybe 28 bucks at walmart, and buy a grill that just a large square piece. You can cut it down if you would like, as it is about 3 inches too long on either side.
Materials
Grill (got mine at AutoZone brand with green 2001 civic on it)
Dremel (or razorblade would work, but take longer and be a pain in @ss,)
2 Screws lying around
Screwdriver lying around
1)First take off your bumper.
2)Than very carefully using a dremel or razor, or whatever you can cut plastic with, cut from the inside of your bumper the old black grill most of the way (leaving both side where fog lights go still connected at the bottom) off right along your paint, careful not to hit the paint (so you can see the color of your car along the bottom and the new grill starts exactly where the black grill is). I left the bottom of the old grill and the sides to be able to slide the new grill in and hold it tight.
3) Next, slide the grill in from the inside of your bumper. After that, I pressed the grill down while also pressing it outward so I could mold it rounded to give it a nicer look than a straight grill. You will have gaps on the sides if you don't press it all around very carefully but firmly and evenly around. Make sure the grill is flat as it will be sitting the whole time you are doing this.
4) Than i put 2 screws in the bottom, 1 on each side, and put the bumper back on. Do not over tighten the screws or you will bust the grill and have to get a new one or drill a new hole.
5) Put your bumper back on and your done. It is very easy and I recommend trying this. The first time I tried I could not get the old black grill cut out, so I returned it, than I tried it again, and I am glad I did. i will post a pic if I can find my USB cable.

Rep Power: 0 i want to change where the "H" is...cuz i read u can get stuff from home depot..i wanna know how to do it this way...i dont want to remvoe teh bumper..cuz i dont want to change the bumper grill...just the H logo part of the gril.

Rep Power: 0 yea...seems complicated....but i was told it was possible to do with out removal of grill...but never knew had to bring to shop.. prolly wont end up doing it........bout the eyelids...got them in some store in china town.....while i was on vacation....saw some on ebay....just prime it...paint and clear coat...came out pretty good....

I saw somebody buying some mesh at Home Depot that was very durable, I saw it in the wood section. That would work awesome.
Open your hood, Just pop off the clips holding on your grill, and look for any other screws, behind the grill, and I believe you can pop the old grill off the car.
When that is out, I think you can take that apart in 2 pieces, so the part that is painted, will be taken off and your left with a black piece from the backside.
Than, you have to find a way to make the new grill fit into the black piece nice and snug.
I would either make the grill a little long all the way around it, and fold it to the right size (Carefully), or else just leave a couple of tabs long enough that you can fold them behind the grill, and screw them somewhere on the black piece to hold it in.
I have DIY'ed the lower grill, and have been thinking about this a while, but have no time to complete yet. Good luck, Hope this helps!! Post pics if so.

Rep Power: 0 i wish it was taht easy to remove the grill.....on the 04....as far as i know...u have to remove the bumper...and i scared to do this.....dont wana mess it up...if theres another way.....to remove stock grill on 04....ill do it!! haha...thanks for the help
