V-afc 2
ok, first off, I've read and re-read every single V-AFC2 thread there is on 7thgen....
secondly, i've checked all my wiring, i've soldered all my wiring, i connected the vtm wire and there are no diodes....
here is my question, how did you guys get vtec to work? how did you set it up? i got my car dynoed today and i got about 5whp gain from just the a/f tune, we tried to change the vtec engagement point to 4000rpm and after couple of minutes the CEL came on....
HELP!!!!!!!

The vtm wire being connected should solve this. Here's a hint--changing the vtec point will almost always cause you to lose power anyway.

the vtm wire is connected like stated above....
and yes, changing the vtec point does infact make you lose hp, but we found that at 4000rpm, ur car doesn't lose hp...well mine doesn't...

right now i have:
ground kit
aem v2
4-1 race header
v-afc2...that's about it (that i can think of that adds power)
everything else is suspension
but i'll have to go write down those numbers and i'm not home right now, so i'll try to get that done tonight....the weird thing is that i tried setting the vtec to kick in at 4000rpm and 3800 rpm, and it still gives me the CEL....
keep in mind i own a 2003 Acura 1.7EL, d17a2 engine in a sedan chassis

Oh now I see. Thanks if you can post those fuel numbers. I tried to tune mine just a little, but I have no way to know exactly. I have a ported cylinder head with header and that's about it. So our setups may be similar.
Your car may have a different pre-setup adjustment. You did set the pre-operation options before you started the car I hope. Stuff like throttle position, vtec type, sensor input,... if you didn't you may have caused engine damage. I know for our civics, the vtec code is =3. Don't know what engine you have. Maybe the same as a regular civic?

I have the vafcII in my EX and it works perfectly. No engine light, and I have the fuel turned up a little. Others also have it working, so I don't know what's wrong. Did you do the initial setup when you first installed it?

yes i did the initial setup...everything is set correctly..so i really don't know...
but yea, i haven't gotten time to deal with the writing down number part...but to let you know, our cars run rich at low rpm's and lean at high rpm's...so u might wanna reverse some numbers around if u cranked it all up

I'll post up what I did later. But I figured it would run like that. I just have around +2 for wide throttle, but that's just guessing.

Is that overall? Like both high and low rpms? Maybe Honda was doing it just to be sure there is no lean problems. My car feels good with the ported head, and gas mileage went way up to 38mpg. I could tell from my old plugs about the rich thing, because they were all black. I really need to find a dyno. It may be that the ported head cancelled out the richness and now it's running fine.

well basically i tuned the a/f...and i tried to get the vtec working but couldn't so just left it...
i borrowed my friend's obd2 reader/eraser thingy today, and i tried to set the vtec, i got it to work but after a few blocks the cel will come on...then i would simply delete the code right? wrong, the cel keeps on coming on....so i guess i have to leave it...
