Keeping Combustion Chamber Clean?
Hey everyone. I searched but really couldn't find anything about additives that people use to keep their engines clean. I always try to maintain my civic was well as possible. I got my car in aug 2001 and to this date I have a little more than 36k on the odometer. That isn't much from the time I bought it. I currently just use STP Fuel Injector cleaner every 3k, but is there really any need to use anything else on my engine? I heard that people use the greased lightning kit to clean their engine, comes with some oil additive and gas additive if I recall. I am fixing to change my oil, so I just wanted to know if my engine really needs any additives to maintain peak performance? Thanks.

STP should be a good product to clean your gas lines and injectors. For oil, if you are using synthetic I feel there is no need to add anything else to it.
Gearbox should have a lot to say. lol.
What I want to know is if there is anything out there to clean carbon built up in your intake and exhaust?

Believe it or not GM makes an incredible fuel system treatment. It comes in an upside down funnel shaped bottle and is a little on the expensive side, like $15-20, I think, but it is not meant for regular use. Between my old man and I we have a lot of mechanic friends who swear by the stuff. It's good **** man.
DOOD..
i just heard that
BG product, called BG-44 can clean your engine seriously clean..
it's few times stronger compared to your wal-mart-available fuel injector cleaner!
anyway, this product usually available on your local GM dealer...

Also,
It is not the BG product it is an actuall GM product with a part number starting out "1234" indicating it is an actual GM accessory...I don't know the last 4 numbers any more. It has been a while since I have used it.
