I do that all the time, if I am just cruising in 2nd gear and then nail the gas it will make a loud popping noise, then lag, then start going.
I think it might be a loose fitting or something....when my friend was in the car he was like "oh **** man, u just back fired"

Check your fittings. If your rolling and then punch it, there shouldn't be a "pop" sound. The only sound you should hear is the sound of your intake sucking in air.. If you have an Ex, you might hear the VTEC as well..

most likely something is loose and when u hit the gas the engine turns over and hits it.. check around the engine bay and see
I've never heard any popping sounds on mine. Maybe it's something hitting or touching something when you gas it. When does it happen exactly, as you gas it or right as you hit rock bottom on the accel or what?
i doubt its hitting anything, mine has done it a few times and if it had hit something i would know casue there would be a dent or cratches on the intake, im pretty sure its just some sort of back-fire through the intake, ive seen it happen on tons of carburated v8's, **** one time there was extra gas on the carburator and intake manifold that when it did back fire the freakin engine bay went kaaa-bleeewyy, just for a few seconds though, it was kinda funny, no harm done though

yea, its backfiring, you can do it on call too. keep a steady speed at around 2300 RPM, for as much as you can, then mash the throttle. BANG.
