Stock battery was giving me trouble sometimes, so out it goes. I beat on it pretty bad though, always playing system with the car off or using dome lights for hours while doing DIY stuff
Those areas that you are pointing to never rusted. The strut towers are painted silver already and should not rust. For the metal parts, you could use some eagle 1 polish to remove the rust. It worked on my exhaust.

looks great man.
I really want to get one too, but right now I have other priorities.

i got mine through work.
also, dont forget, always always always leave the factory tray and battery cover on your battery. your battery releases gases that corrode your engine bay, the gases will flow in the direction of the fuse box making it the first place for corrosion to form. and always clean your terminals on a regular basis.

let'see.....
i lived in Buffalo, NY.....where snow bitches like crazy during winter....and those salt trucks are pouring so much salt on the road..
now, ur probably right....but i think this might be caused by the previous owner's lazines....maybe she didn't wash my car that often during winter time...
eagle 1? hm, this is very interesting...im getting one....where though?
hm...the strut towers are not exactly rusting....it's only the big nuts and screws....
now, i grease it with lighting greaser....in order to prevent those rush from eating the nuts...

it looks reallygood with the bar .....but the only problem that you will have is if you have to take the battery back if it goes bad ....i sell them and they tell me not to take them back if the date code is missing.....but like i said it does look good just tell the partsd store a you need a 51R and they will help you out

With the terminals on the far end away from me, the positive is on the right, like this one here , which is not the reversed terminal one.

But the battery above has to turn around. You want the terminals towards the back of the engine bay. You have to rotate it 180. Mine is the same as above, so you're right. You need the one where + and - are switched. Actual terminals are in the same place, though.
You would need the one where the + and - are normal (the group 51)
So for everyone's info:
- you need the 51
- NOT the 51R
gearbox apparently has the 51R, which is why he had to rewire
You can see both versions here and see that the orientation on the Group 51 matches that of our cars

I went to advanced auto parts yesterday and ordered the 51 yellow top and it came in today. I went to put it in and the terminals were wrong. Now they are ordering a 51R for me. I checked th part number on the battery. Is anyone 100% sure it was a 51 and I just got one with the part number wrong???
If you put the wrong battery in with out re-wiring then you lose the hood support because it lays right over the terminals and the hood wont shut

SEE the difference (I was just being lazy, so now I have no hood support)

I painted mine black to match the engine bay
Oh and you should think about turning your battery around and redoing the wires (basically just moving them). I've noticed water has a tendency to leak in near the edge. You don't want the terminals getting wet.
