underbody protectant/noise dampening weight

Hello all, first time poster here.

I just bought an 04 EX and before i had time to research the underbody protectant and paint protectant, they roped me into it at the time of signing (I just said what the heck). So, before its too late, i'm curious how much added weight the underbody protectant adds? The EX is already fricken slow, and i don't want it to get much slower.....

So i'd like to hear how much weight this adds to the car from people who know.

Feel free to add any comments on either the paint or underbody protectant.

where are you from? i wouldn't let them put it on my car unless i was from the north where all the damn salt they put on roads eats away everything on your car...

isnt it a spray on protectant? i doubt it would add any significant weight to your car, unless its a giant solid piece of covering. i have paint protectant on my, its a teflon coating over the existing paint. the coating makes the clearcoat smoother. and i really doubt that it will add weight to the car. how much will a layer of coating on the car weight? no much im thinking, if you want the car to go faster go lose some weight. jk

Yeah, i know the paint protectant won't add much weight...haha

The underbody protectant is kind of a rubbery substance, not exactly thin so I thought there might be a significant amount of weight added when applied to the whole underbody. And I do live in the northwest, so I think it will be of some benefit.

It was about two hundred something, from the dealer as an option added into the loan. I'm sure you can get it for cheaper. I've heard there are cans of the stuff you can buy from an auto parts store to do it yourself.

imo it wouldnt be worth doing unless you did it right at the dealer before the cars first winter, and even then the salt back there eats EVERYTHING

IMO---if it's like a tar like substance then probably 10-30pounds, if it's a paint base then don't worry bout it...

but you can lose the spare tire, subs, backseat and run with quarter fuel makes your ride a bit lighter!
