taking off muffler

what happens if i take off my muffler(leave it without any resonator)? i will lose torque right? or hp? and pls explain why.. thanks!

it will sound like one of those "hole in their muffler's ***" cars. and police will like your car alot and they might pull you over to check it out and give you some cheques for the effort.

coz i was searchin for it here.. and i've read somewhere that if you take it off you will gain hp since you are lettin the engine "breathe freely" and will lose torque because(i forgot what he said).. sorry

its so funny when you hear this car at night, passing you on the interstate, and its loud as crap, and u are expecting some corvette or modded honda or something, and it turns out being an '88 corolla without a muffler.
