Hey, I'm getting a top portion header. I have an EX sedan. Is it a fairly simple install? Just unbolt the old one and bolt on the new one? Will I need to buy any new pieces from the dealer or anything?

hey man im not positive with the ex's but for my LX which was a header and downpipe, it is just straigt take it off and put the new one on exactly how the old one came off. ONly thing i needed was a 2 inch donut gasket

Why would you need to replace it? Is the old one not reusable?

i think what he ment was the old gasket's holes were too small thats why he had to buy donuts(gasket)...not sure

if you just got the top part you can reuse the donut gasket. the header should come with torque specs though. The install is a breeze. unblot old and blot on new. just a tip, have some wd40 or antiseize crap incase the bolts are really tight, which mine were.

With the Hp Racing header, Im pretty sure you have to shave the motor mount to get it to fit.

I don't think you have to shave anything to get the top portion to fit. You better, not, because I was told you don't have to. But even if you do, I have an auto and I heard you only have to shave on the manuals. Anyway I was told it bolts directly in so I'll be like give me my money back if it doesn't

Also, I don't think I'm getting official instructions cuz I bought it used from a member who is selling their stuff.

Is there a DIY for this?

Maybe I'll do one.

I'm afraid of installing things without knowing how, tho. I'm sure it's easy but I'm a n00b. The only thing I could install without instructions was my Neuspeed front upper strut bar.

Yeah, I saw those. But that's for the whole race setup and also on an LX. The LX's header is different cuz it's got the 02 sensor on it and stuff.

Yes, exactally. I installed the dc stainless header. A very easy install. If you perfer, you can go to honda and get the header gasket and the donut for the new header. You dont have to, but the original header was torqued which cause the gasket to shrink into its fit. You will be taking the gasket off and then reinstalling it on you new header, which will not set as it would if new. I had to wait a week for honda to get a shipment of head gaskets before I could install my header. There are seven bolts to undo and three from the header heat shield.

donut goes between header and down pipe, or catalytic convertor, header gasket is the metal gasket between the header and the exhaust ports(engine block) Dude just take the old one out and put the new one in just go out and start unscrewing bolts that connect the header and then put the new one on just like that it is extremely easy, you will know what everything is once you just start doing it

the bolts for the header to the collector (also where the "donut gasket" is at) has to be removed from below.. not top.

if u search for torque spec, u'll find it. I've posted a couple times i think.

also, the bottom bolts have springs on them.. they're only 16 lbs.ft, when u reinstall those bolts, make sure u go from one to another as u tighten it. you gotta interchange the tightening so it'll fit well.

make sure u have proper socket for the nuts and bolts.. they're 10mm and the bottom one is 12mm I think. u dont want to overtorque any of these cuz these are very easy to strip and snap parts. honda and their cheap grade 5 nuts and bolts.

all of them are only around ~23-27 lbs.ft of torque.. so yeah.. i dont remember exactly, but I figured eventually I'll remember if enough people ask.

for the hp you don't need a new one it fits perfect. takes 10 min. just need to lift your car a bit to get under for the bolts.

Alright CapYoda, here's what you posted on another thread so it better be right

EX:

the 2 bolts on top are 23 lbs.ft or 31 n.m

the 3 nuts below are 23 lbs.ft

the heatshield bolt in the middle is 17 lbs.ft or 24 N.m

DX/LX/HX:

the 2 bolts on the top are 23 lbs.ft

3 nuts on the bottom are 23 lbs. ft

the TWO cover bolts for the heatshield are 7.2lbs or 9.8 N.m

the two bolts on the bottom that holds the header to er... hmm something. lol. (not the two bolts that hold the header/cat to the downpipe) are: 33 lbs.ft or 44n.m

for the bolts with the springs on them that connects the headers on the downpipe both ex and the rest:

16 lbf.ft or 22 n.m tighten the bolts in steps, alternating side to side... this will ensure that the header will be fitten on correctly.. without one side being too tight and exhaust leaking...

I think thats all for the header.

oh wait. oxygen sensor 33 lbf.ft or 44 n.m
