Intake and Rain

Hey wassup guys.
I just installed an Injen intake on the civic. It is sweet . I really enjoy the sound of it. However, winter is coming soon and i am worried about water getting into the intake and then into the engine. This is very bad and can mess up the internals. Is the rain a problem in city driving? How about on the freeway going 70 mph in the rain? I am paranoid about my engine hydrolocking.

You're probably going to get told to search, but I'll help you out. Is it an sri or cai? I have an aem sri on my car and I just keep it on during the rain. If its a cai you might want to get a bypass valve just to be safe, don't know for sure if the aem bypass valve will fit the injen cai though. Well, I hope that helps.

K&N makes a "dry-cover" in sizes to fit most filters that helps prevent filter saturation. It won't let you drive thru two feet of water but its great at keeping your filter dry when running thru a extreem rain. Worse than just water is a salt emulsion. Road salt dust will normally be trapped by the filter media, but in solution with water it will pass right thru. Then as the water burns off the salt crystals reappear and your on your way to a dusted motor.

cryption should not be trusted
my friend (Eklipz) had hydrolock with his injen intake ... i would just be wary of where you drive but don't stress about it too much

I live in the area of the world where rain happens all the time. I just avoid huge puddles, i realize that the AEM cai is pretty close to the ground but i have had it on since the birth of my car and i haven't any problems. I do have a bypass valve sitting in the garage for it though if anyone is interested.
