JDM folding side mirrors!!
Just want to know if anyone interested buying JDM power side mirrors if they are approximate $150 a pair? My uncle is going to Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong for business trip. I already gave him an empty luggage in case he finds any treasures. The following is a picture of a side mirror he saw last time in HK on a black 7Gen Civic sedan. (Sorry coupe owners, mirrors are for sedans only!)

I came up with 2 possible solutions to get the power mirrors worked on DX. I do prefer the first idea, so that you upgrade your car at the same time!
1) Since those mirrors are pre-wired, you can buy a 4 ways switch from a Honda dealer. Hook up the power and try to connect to the motors inside the mirrors. There should be 2 motors inside each mirror.
2) Disassemble the mirrors and take out the motors and try to stuff something inside and create a "resistant" to hold the mirror still.

shiot. I need a coupe one but they don't have those in Japan.
DAMMIT DAMMIT. I'm not really sure if the A pillar of the coupe and sedan are at different angles that the mirrors aren't interchangeable between coupes and sedans. But I don't want to spend $150 just to find out.

Someone just put it up on e-bay. Right now its only 100$, check it out. BTW, this only fits the sedan, power folding mirrors. Click here
Ok if you don't mind spending a lot of $$$, you can get them (folding & powered side mirrors) for sure the following ways...
Coupe:
1) Hondawerx
2) Call Chiswick Honda in the UK direct (I almost did this when Honda US pointed me here, but then I found Hondawerx and a very helpful Greg)
Sedan:
1) Hondawerx (talk to Greg)
2) Call Chiswick Honda UK
3) Just buy the Hybrid mirrors from a Honda dealership since they're A-pillar is the same as Sedans (not exactly the same as JDM, but they are folding & powered and also may need to be re-painted to match)

A closer look at the connector with 5 metal pins. They are like this ....
F o o o
F M M M
F= folding motor pin
M= mirror angles pin
o= none

I guess your best bet is to try to source a control assembly from Honda - SOMETHING triggers the folding right? If it's something like ignition (ie when car is turned off the mirrors fold in), then it shouldnt be too hard to fab one.

Since I have a LX with no sun roof, I am thinking of getting a sun roof switch and feed the power to the folding motor pins. I hope I could find a switch similar to Telly's EL which an extra button beside the
L---[]---R switch. BTW, how hard is it to remove the triangle plate on the other side of the mirror? DIY said I have to remove the door panel.

hahaa.... I don't think I want to fold them everytime I turn off my car. That is just something to play with when I have nothing to do. But first of all, I want to see how our OEM mirrors are wired. I may go get 2 additional speakers, rear cup holder, extra wires while exploring the junk yard nearby.

DJ02, can you tell me how you did the folding action? Do you use the button I found on eBay or they just fold automatically everytime you turn your car off? You sound awesome!!!
