gauge cluster

Is anyone selling or know where I can get a 2001-2002 LX AUTOMATIC gauge cluster for my DX? I don't care about milage or anything. I just want to be able to get EL gauges. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey fella. Good luck with your gauge swap man! At first I wanted to get indiglo gauge faces, but I couldn't find any for DX. Now all I want is the tach.

Heres a few EX clusters:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2433433885
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2434068459

Just cover the SRS bulb with a piece of electrical tape, because the SRS warning light will always be on (no SRS in DX).

Its where I got my LX cluster gauge. It might be more expensive but
worth it in my opinion.

Because on a DX cluster the Fuel and temp meters are combined in the big pod for where the tachometer should be, thus making the two smaller pods (where the fuel and temp separately should be) blank and stupid looking.

The real question is: Why do our Civics need to store and show mileage? With simple daily driving, they will last forever.

I have done the swap, but I want matching mileages. My car is at 22300 miles already, but my swap-cluster is at 23454 miles. I'm almost ready.

This is the damn truth, so don't listen to any one else who says otherwise. Here's how it goes:

DX Gauge Cluster swap to LX/EX Cluster DIY INFO

1. Your car's mileage is stored in your cluster as well as inside the car somewhere else (I think ECU). This is how the car's mileage can be checked at dealerships and other inspection places.

2. If you swap a different cluster into your car, the mileage of your car will not show up on that swap-cluster. The swap-cluster will show the mileage of the previous car it was in.

3. The mileage on a cluster ACCUMULATES. It does not reset after you put it into a different car. It starts with the number of miles that the previous car it was in (and any others before that one) added to the cluster.

4. Honda condones cluster swapping, but even if you do get them to say yes they will charge you an exhorbitant amount of money to electronically match the mileage of the swap-cluster to the mileage of your car.

5. It is better if you find a swap-cluster with more miles than your car. Do not swap until your car's miles match the swap-cluster's miles. In the future, if you ever want to sell your car, you won't get spit on by the dealer after he learns that you have tampered with the mileage.

6. 2001 and 2002 gauge clusters are the same so either year is fine. The socket and wire harnesses match and are just 'plug&play'.

7. If you get an EX cluster, the SRS signal will always stay lit up, because DX models do not have SRS. To solve this, pull out the bulb behind the gauge face. Or put put some black electrical tape over the bulb. Simple solution to the SRS warning light. LX is has no problems.

8. For instrutions on removing your cluster from the dash board, follow the steps in this DIY.
**Hint: Unsrew and remove the two plastic pieces that cover the steering wheel column behind the steering wheel. The top piece is blocking the bottom of the plastic trim piece that surrounds the cluster. The glue holding the plastic trim piece around the gauge cluster is not strong, and pulling out the plastic trim piece will be easier.

9. Enjoy your new cluster with tachometer!

You can find clusters on eBay once in a while. That's where I bought my clusters. My first one I forgot about it and my mileage was already passed the mileage on the cluster I was going to swap. I'm not going to mess up again.

here is the DIY to remove the cluster from the dash:
http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...threadid=30481

**Just a tip. That glue that holds that plastic trim piece around the cluster is not strong. You don't even have to pull on it hard. Just unsrew the two plastic pieces that cover the steering wheel column behind the steering wheel. The top piece is blocking the bottom of the plastic trim piece that surrounds the cluster.

Makes sure you get a 2001 or 2002 cluster. They are 'plug & plug' (very interchangeable). The only difference between LX and EX clusters is that EX might have SRS. If it does, the SRS light will always be lit up. Just pull the bulb out or cover it with a piece of electrical tape. Simple solution.

Wow how did you do that with your cluster and where did you get those pieces to show the digital display??? That is the hottest thing I have seen in a long time.

have you all considered LED gauge swaps? a nice alternative to Indiglo... I personally don't like the teal look... but I'm an LED nut...
