Is your part.. generic and made in Taiwan?
welp.
I finally found the webpages for the Taiwan manufactures that makes some of the header and downpipe we see on ebay, and possibly the same item many of us purchase with other names attached to it.
anyway you can't exactly purchase from them (unless you want to buy 20 piece set), but u can see what products they offer for our car.
Yamata Co.

here's another one:
Mighty Star (corny name. heh.)
http://www.mightystar.com.tw/
http://mightystar.2ya.com/
click on products
both of their parts are very similiar... they may share design, or not.. I'm not too sure. Although of course parts are similiar when considering the applications are for the same car.. heh.
here's some note worthy pics:
01 civic ex header from Yatama

01 civic ex downpipe from Yatama

01 civic axel back exhaust for 4d from Yatama

01 civic middle section from Yatama

01 civic catback from Yatama

Any of these look familiar? Do you happen to own one, but with a different name attached to it?

now just cuz they're generic (or brand name) made in Taiwan stuff, doesn't mean they suck.
there's nothing wrong with them as long as they work or work as advertised...
this thread is just to inform people that... when they buy a generic, and then a "brand name" that looks exactly like the generic, they could very well be buying the same thing.
take Invidia exhaust for example.
if you check their website: http://www.invidiarsr.com/
you will find that lots of their pictures for exhaust, header, mufflers, will match up with the links above.
anyway its not like I'm trying to kill Invidia's business again, heh. its just I dont like their approach in marketing. (ie: using the invidia, and the RSR name). I believe they're intentionally trying to decieve consumer and distributors alike. (Plus, what kind of "World leader in the field of high performance exhaust" has a side business selling flashlights and pagers?)
another point I'm trying to make is, be more informed about what you're buying. and know that just cuz its generic, doesn't mean it sucks.
I mean, honestly... a person buys an ebay exhaust and people may bash on him cuz its not a "brand name"... then a person goes and spends twice the amount on the "Invidia" exhaust (exact same deal, just with logo)... and people go "Yeah! thats a great exhaust from a great company"
there's obviously some marketing effect here. I'm not trying to bash people that've bought invidia stuff, if you're happy with it, great! but the problem is, you paid more than you should.
of course, not all generics are good too. some really are crap. and some brand name stuff has quality that you just can't duplicate.
at the end, its up to us the consumer, to educate ourselves....
because from what I learned in school, heh. We determine the market.
(its too bad they dont sell these and other generic exhaust on ebay anymore)
