I already have a header... but i was just interested to see how many people have straight pipes and no cats... and see what kinda difference it makes... it's reall cheap so it's not a bad mod i guess
The stock cat is pretty restrictive. A test pipe will give you a more free flowing exhaust. It is a nice addition to I/H/E. You will see some gains but dont expect too much. It adds a nice tone too. I would recommend you do it..it's cheap HP.
mil eliminator ... from bigjoshracing (warning: advertising) and his group buy with his kamikaze header n stuff ... it works ... so far I haven't had my check engine light on and it's been about 100-150 miles so far

i just gutted my cat ive noticed a difference in 4000 rpm and up. great sound. lost a little bit of low end seems to bog down off the line but will soon be installing a race header i just found, that will eliminate my cat. but all in all i like the results. no dyno testing
I have the HP Race w/ hiflo cat, this threw a CEL for the 2nd o2 sensor but if you just reset your ecu a few times it will go away, or you could just drive with it on untill it goes off.
You'll get a CEL after (2) long trips. I was planning on getting the o2 Simulator but didnt have the money at that point so i just reset the ECU. I reset it 2wice (4 long trips) and It didn't come back. Save yourself 50bux and keep your o2 sensor. This CEL won't put your engine in "limp mode". Good Luck.

i am gonna be selling them for $20 shipped, which is about $5 more than the mil eliminator that bigshowracing is selling them for, but this is for the overhead... ill try to get them out for even less but shipping always kills most of the deals...

test pipes have o2 sensor bungs... so yea.. plug it in there.. you will still be able to go.. just that you are gonna have issues with the check engine light because your cat isnt there...
Easy install, unbolt stock, bolt in new parts, and plug in the o2 sensor. I haven't had any problems with my CEL after a few resets, maybe you are having other issues with your car. I have talked to a few people that just let it go and it eventually went off. It's not how far you drive, it's the amount of trips you take. You can take (1) 600 mile trip and still need another trip for it to trigger. Mine would go on after (2) 30 mile trips (to and from work) then it would go on next time i started the motor. Reset 2x and it went away...good luck.
ok.. what if i want to put back my cat? should i just bolt it in and the CEL will not light anymore? im thinking of doing this.. coz i plan to put back my cat everytime it's time for the smog test..
I have been running a straight pipe for about 6 months now ... After installing, my CEL lit almost immediately ... I reset countless times and it just came back ... When emissions rolled around this year, I put the cat on, reset, tested (and passed) then re-installed the straight pipe ... Within 14 hours of the re-install my CEL lit and has been on ever since ... I mean, its no big deal putting the cat back on 1 time a year but it do0es get tiresome ...
You can pull your negative battery cable, but that will reset all your electronics not just your ECU (I.E. Stereo Settings, etc etc) You can pull the 7.5A Fuse (01 ex) Under the hood. Reguardless it is labeled at F.I ECU.
Pull it for a few minutes, put it back in, start your car and let it idle for 5min turning on all your accessories (Headlights, AC, etc etc) but dont hit the throttle. Then turn your motor off, on, off, and your ready to go. (This is the procedure honda/acura tech's use)
I reset 2x and my CEL went away. I got a new exhaust and it came back, after 1 reset it went away again. It's been over a year without it.
